.- Thousands of pilgrims and faithful gathered at noon Sunday in St. Peters Square to pray the Angelus with the Holy Father. Before the prayer, he said that the fruits of the recently ended Year for Priests could never be measured, but are already visible and will continue to be ever more so.
The priest is a gift from the heart of Christ, a gift for the Church and for the world. From the heart of the Son of God, overflowing with love, all the goods of the Church spring forth, proclaimed Pope Benedict XVI. One of those goods is the vocations of those men who, conquered by the Lord Jesus, leave everything behind to dedicate themselves completely to the Christian community, following the example of the Good Shepherd.
The Holy Father described the priest as having been formed by the same charity of Christ, that love which compelled him to give his life for his friends and to forgive his enemies.
Therefore, he continued, priests are the primary builders of the civilization of love.
Benedict XVI exhorted priests to always seek the intercession of St. John Marie Vianney, whose prayer, the Act of Love, was prayed frequently during the Year for Priests, and continues to fuel our dialogue with God.
The pontiff also spoke about the close of the Year for Priests, which took place this past week and culminated with the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. He emphasized the unforgettable days in the presence of more than 15,000 priests from around the world.
The feast of the Sacred Heart is traditionally a day of priestly holiness, but this time it was especially so, Benedict XVI remarked.
Pope Benedict concluded his comments by noting that, in contemplating history, one observes so many pages of authentic social and spiritual renewal which have been written by the decisive contribution of Catholic priests. These were inspired only by their passion for the Gospel and for mankind, for his true civil and religious freedom.
So many initiatives that promote the entire human being have begun with the intuition of a priestly heart, he exclaimed.
The Pope then prayed the Angelus, greeted those present in various languages, and imparted his apostolic blessing.
“Can you name a doctrine of demons in the RCC Catechism?”
Here’s a start....

The Immaculate Conception
493 The Fathers of the Eastern tradition call the Mother of God “the All-Holy” (Panagia), and celebrate her as “free from any stain of sin, as though fashioned by the Holy Spirit and formed as a new creature”.138 By the grace of God Mary remained free of every personal sin her whole life long.
Mary — “ever-virgin”
Mary’s virginal motherhood in God’s plan

II. DEVOTION TO THE BLESSED VIRGIN
971 “All generations will call me blessed”: “The Church’s devotion to the Blessed Virgin is intrinsic to Christian worship.”513 The Church rightly honors “the Blessed Virgin with special devotion. From the most ancient times the Blessed Virgin has been honored with the title of ‘Mother of God,’ to whose protection the faithful fly in all their dangers and needs. . . . This very special devotion . . . differs essentially from the adoration which is given to the incarnate Word and equally to the Father and the Holy Spirit, and greatly fosters this adoration.”514 The liturgical feasts dedicated to the Mother of God and Marian prayer, such as the rosary, an “epitome of the whole Gospel,” express this devotion to the Virgin Mary.515

829 “But while in the most Blessed Virgin the Church has already reached that perfection whereby she exists without spot or wrinkle, the faithful still strive to conquer sin and increase in holiness. And so they turn their eyes to Mary”:306 in her, the Church is already the “all-holy.”
“Outside the Church there is no salvation”
846 How are we to understand this affirmation, often repeated by the Church Fathers?335 Re-formulated positively, it means that all salvation comes from Christ the Head through the Church which is his Body:
Basing itself on Scripture and Tradition, the Council teaches that the Church, a pilgrim now on earth, is necessary for salvation: the one Christ is the mediator and the way of salvation; he is present to us in his body which is the Church. He himself explicitly asserted the necessity of faith and Baptism, and thereby affirmed at the same time the necessity of the Church which men enter through Baptism as through a door. Hence they could not be saved who, knowing that the Catholic Church was founded as necessary by God through Christ, would refuse either to enter it or to remain in it.336

Doctrines of demons?
Mary was always a virgin. Mary was conceived without sin and remained without sin her entire life. Mary is the reason the church has reached perfection. Salvation is through the Catholic Church.
It doesn’t get much worse than that.
We disagree. But thank you for the post.
The opposite, however, is the case. Everyone around us follows his own interests and looks to his own advantage; everyone wants to lord it over others. Hence our pride, our surliness, our venom the instant we are provoked. Harshness and even cruelty abound. We are vindictive and cause no end of trouble: it is as if lightning should fall from heaven every time someone is offended. So if in the course of life we endure many difficulties, we do not have to look far for the explanation: the pain men suffer comes from their fellow men. It is, of course, true that people all have their excuses. They want nothing better, they say, than to be gentle and mild-mannered, and to show patience toward those among whom they live. But, they add, it is not possible to deny our human nature: we must hunt with the hounds, because to be a sheep is to risk becoming someone else's dinner. That, then, is the excuse usually offered by men to cloak their actions. In reality so full are they of bitterness, arrogance, and pride that they cannot abide one another. It is all the more fitting, then, that we remember the lesson which the Son of God has for us here. For although we think we are hard done by when we cannot retaliate against those who ill-treat us, he tells us that it is the peace-makers and the meek who will possess the earth... "...If we would only heed what nature teaches us we would enjoy the happiest state that humans could desire. For God has created all of us in his own image, so that we have only to look at our neighbour to see ourselves. We are one flesh. And although appearances and attitudes are very different, it is impossible to efface the unity which God has conferred on us. If only that were firmly etched in our minds, we would all be living at peace with each other, in a kind of earthly paradise.
Amen. A terrific sermon. I hope you read all of it.
The doctrine of transubstantiation.
The doctrine of the Assumption of Mary.
The doctrine which views the priest as an "alter Christus."
The doctrine that bestows infallibility on a pope and his magisterium.
The doctrine that elevates tradition to the level of Scripture.
Yadayadayada...
These doctrines do not come from God's word. They are anathema to Christianity.
"That God's word damns your ceremonies it is evident; for the plain and straight commandment of God is, 'Not that thing which appears good in thy eyes shalt thou do to the Lord thy God, but what the Lord thy God has commanded thee; that do thou; add nothing to it; diminish nothing from it.' Now unless you are able to prove that God has commanded your ceremonies, this his former commandment will damn both you and them." -- John Knox (Knox, Works, 1:199. Cf. Calvin, The Necessity of Reforming the Church, in Tracts, 1:128-29.)
If not "demons," close enough.
Amazingly, we disagree.
Noted.
Thanks!
You forgot Mary and every 2-bit "Saint" that comes down the road, as well as religious tokens and a wide variety of other trinkets.
Roman Catholicism is polytheism at it's finest...er..worst.
Doctrines of demons in the RCC?
1. APPROX 99.7% OF THE CARICATURED MARIAN DOGMA.
2. That Salvation is partly by works.
The rest will likely have to wait until I’ve waded through the Catechism.
Perhaps Dr E or some of my Bros, Sis. above would have some discernment on that.
Is that a
POSTING POLICE mentality again?
One of our Sisters or the group was assaulted with an allegation of rudeness. I thought it hilariously hypocritical and another example of the RC BRAZEN DOUBLE STANDARD. I think it’s fitting for our little Proddy group to consider those issues.
I didn’t and don’t think it was necessary to get MOTHER SUPERIOR’S PERMISSION, first.
BTW, DID !YOU! PERSONALLY TRULY BELIEVE THAT QUIX THOUGHT HE WAS AUTHORING OR MODIFYING SCRIPTURE WITHIN THE BRACKETS?
I guess I'll have to format them differently or use "{}" to signify my own interpretation.
.
.
.
I'm CERTAIN y'all were 100% convinced that Quix thought he was AUTHORING ORIGINAL SCRIPTURE within the "[]" brackets! /SARCASM TO THE MAX.
SHEESH!
The STATION OF THE WHITE HANKY DOGMA
OF INFINITE OBTUSENESS, INFINITE HYPOCRISY, INFINITE IRONY, STRIKES FROM THE VATICAN YET AGAIN!
You forgot Mary and every 2-bit “Saint” that comes down the road, as well as religious tokens and a wide variety of other trinkets.
Roman Catholicism is polytheism at it’s finest...er..worst.
INDEED.
Given the quality of the duplicitous rants . . . it looks to me like some folks would do better going back to sucking their teaspoon of sugar in a white hanky.
Mark, Christ did not have to go up to the mountain to be tempted as we are. He lived on this earth and was, as we all are, tempted daily.
This was a direct respnse to the fall.
I'm glad that you have selected some non Trinitarian verses here. Thank you for posting some evidence. Perhaps the good Dr. E. might be impressed with your handiwork.
God made Paul the primary teacher of the new church, Paul wrote exactly what the Holy Spirit inspired him to . If anyone has a problem with that..that is their eternal problem
“Amazingly, we disagree.”
UNDERSTATEMENT OF THE YEAR AWARD.
Judith, Paul was hand selected by Christ.. Paul had been ordained to be the church's 1st teacher.
I am sorry that the words of Paul make Catholics and some protestants uncomfortable.. but that is not the issue of the one quoting him..it is an issue with the Holy Spirit that inspired them...Peter said that Pauls words were inspired scripture. The church said his words are inspired.. so anyone that has a problem with Pauls teachings needs to complain to God that He is not a God of their liking , they woud prefer a different doctrine.or a different God
RN>>>"Does the church not teach that the sacraments give grace?" NL answers .... No.
That answer was wrong , so I corrected it..
I am told the church NEVER changes its doctrine.. so the OLD Baltimore Cat.. is still true right?
Now read what you
the sacraments confer the grace that they signify. They are efficacious because in them Christ himself is at work: it is he who baptizes, he who acts in his sacraments in order to communicate the grace that each sacrament signifies.
Sees to me that says your answer was wrong as well... I like the Baltimore Catechism because all the flowery language is cut out.. you get right to the doctrine..
Did you know the efficacy of the sacrament is determined by the INTENT of the priest? So my friend you may have been baptized or confirmed or confessed sin or received communion.without benefit.. it is all about the priest..
I'm pretty sure that is wrong. A perfect God supplies sacramental grace, not an imperfect sinful human.
Which one is Quix?
They do (so deos the Epistle to Romans, which you think procvlaims Sola Fide). Judaizers are those who think that it was necessary for Catholic Christian converts to become legally Jews first. The Chruch condemned them, yet a new breed of these found a home among the Evangelicals in 20c.
There is no priesthood, no papacy , no apostolic succession in the NT church as found in the scriptures.
Please re-read the thread from the beginning so you can educate yourself. All thise things are whollty scriptural; better so than the counterscriptural foolishness of Protestantism.
So both faith and their righteous works saved them. He always mentions both.
