JAKraig is right. There is no way the Church would presume to do this. Some idiot submitted the name. If it was not someone stupid, it was someone malicious attempting to cause trouble for the Church. Among numerous obvious reasons why the Church would not do this: Jesus is the source of authority for baptism. He was baptised while on earth by one having authority, John the Baptist.

So let me get this straight.

There are several prolific LDS folks here on FR that get LDS doctrine wrong all the time to the point of mixing it in with apostate/ LDS heretical teachings ideas etc. and no one from the rest of the LDS corp steps in to correct them but this is too much or not from Mormon?

So where is that threshold exactly?

Uh..don't you have to have your membership number now to upload files to the FamilySearch site? That would mean that dastardly someone who was "maliciously attempting to cause trouble for the Church" would be a member, right?

I find it notable that even in this instance an accusation of "persecution of the mormons" can made.

Um...that is nigh near impossible anymore with the new temple recommends (with barcodes and magnetic strip). The ordinances were DONE. Doesn’t anyone bother to check?
