Catholic Church Denies Female Priest a Catholic Burial (wymynpryst, that is)

A woman who challenged a Catholic ordination ban has died. The Catholic church will not allow her to be buried at a Catholic parish.

Janine Denomme was ordained a priest in April by a group called Roman Catholic Womenpriests. She had been battling cancer and yesterday she died in her Edgewater home.

The Catholic church never recognized Denomme's ordination. The Archdiocese of Chicago says Denomme automatically separated herself from the Church when she participated in "the simulation of the sacrament of Holy Orders." The diocese says she knowingly and willingly participated in the simulation and brought excommunication upon herself. And because of that Denomme is denied a Catholic funeral. The Archdiocese says Denomme would only be allowed a Church burial if she gave "some sign of repentance before death."

Denomme's funeral mass will be held at First United Methodist Church in Evanston.

Something's missing from your story, because there's nothing wrong with a nun (or anyone else) baptizing a baby who is in danger of death

Yes, I'm pretty sure this was a dissident ritual performed on a healthy baby, I'm not sure who was most responsible for the breach of church discipline (the parents or the nun).

The point stands, though. Nothing wrong with vigorous discipline, evenly applied. The public chastisement of men leaving the priesthood to marry stands in sharp contrast to the public treatment of the soul murderers, and THAT is significant.

Not really. This is the sort of thing where the threat to George from Rome is actually greater than the pressure from Fr. Pfleger.

Just wait: The next time George has to choose between upholding Catholicism or caving to Fr. Pfleger, he’ll cave to Fr. Pfleger.

And how do we know what role seeking the Sacrament of Reconciliation (Penance) takes in these cases.

It’s clear to me that this nun did not repent of her sins.

Hmmmm.

In the Confessional line tonight, Fr. Pfleger? I think you need to seek out your spiritual advisor at once.

I don’t know what planet you’re living on but it can’t be this one.

Please name one priest in this country who has been found guilty of sexually abusing children, who has not yet been punished by the Church and who is still a priest in good standing. While it is true that up until about ten years ago, the bishops failed to remove these men from ministry and covered up the scandal, that is no longer the case. The pendulum has truly swung in the opposite direction from the bishops not doing enough to the bishops doing too much because there are some innocent priests, who have been falsely accused, and who have been removed from ministry even though there is no credible evidence that they are guilty.

The anti-Catholic bigots who are using the sex abuse scandal as an excuse to attack the Church, need to find something else to complain about because they are no longer credible.

The Nuns who dedicated their very lives to the Church were turned out without direction or resources to fend for themselves, Christianity in the Hierarchy is non existent.

As simple as, a divorced catholic not being allowed to receive the Sacraments, “FOR EVER “, no amnesty, NO COMPASSION.
I instructed a divorced Catholic woman who worked with me to go to a different Church, receive the sacaments and deal directly with Jesus Christ. She Did.

The real problem is the Hierarchy, Straight or Homosexual, who enabled this Holocaust of Children which continues today.
Most of these soulless Beasts were not punished and neither was their Homosexual Charges.

I am a Catholic and I love My Catholic Church.

There are Hurndreds and Hundreds of “Priests” who never were punished for their Crimes due to the Hierarchy hiding them until after the Statute of Limitations ran out.

“Cardinal Mahoney is a Classic example of this protection of Homosexual Priests.

Yes, that's my point.

It has nothing to do with anti-Catholic bigotry. Bishops (for the most part) were and are very quick to publicly act against priests who marry (at least if they marry women) or nuns who are disobedient. That's fine with me.

It is decidedly NOT fine that compassionate, charitable, and sensitive management is reserved for these ravening wolves who destroyed the innocence of thousands.

Don't you see that this SELECTIVE charity is a huge problem in its own right? Yes, now that they've been caught out, they are trying to stop the practice of child soul murder. They make sure that every DRE, every youth leader, every CCD teacher knows that you are not supposed to anally rape the children entrusted to your care.

But of course, they all knew that already.

What they didn't know is that, while the successors of the apostles can act decisively, within hours in fact, against clergy who violate their vows of chastity in a heterosexual way, that they can not bring themselves to do so in the case of homosexual child molesters.

That is not anti-Catholic bigotry. That's a fact, that's a sin, and repentence is what is called for.

The hierarchy picks and chooses who to punish and who not to punish, Pure Politics.

I am Apalled, by the thought of Priests corousing with their
Perverted sexual Partners, and then Officiate at Mass the next morning, distributing, Holy Communion with the same Hands and Soul.

Like it or not, the Nun could never receive Holy Orders under the present rules, she might have created a form of scandal, but no great Sin.

Sexually Destroying the very lives and souls of little Children while a priest is performing, “In Persona Christe”,in Inexcusable and should be Damned to Hell.

I trust the Lord to take care of the damnation.

I would trust the bishops more if they would deny Catholic funerals to the soul murderers.

I believe Phlager had to issue an apology because he mentioned in his Easter homily that women should be priest.
