Huh?
1. Yes, the SBC broke from the Northern Convention in the mid 1800s, in part, because of the slavery issue. Also, the SBC has since apologized for its position (that it held in the century before last) on slavery. Now, well over 20% of students in SBC seminaries are African-American. When I received a degree from a SBC seminary, 25% of my graduating class was black. In various doc seminars I've taken, anywhere from 20 to 50% of the classes consisted of African-Americans.
As to the question of whether these posts on FR are "edifying to believers;" I don't think that is the purpose here. The purpose is to discuss and even debate issues in which we are all interested.
Finally as to whether I have a "link for my accusation..." Presumably you are referring to my throw-away quip that Calvinists take over baptist churches. Anyone who has been in a church that has been victim of an attempted or successful Calvinist takeover knows exactly what I am talking about.
Question. You talk of Calvinist takeovers. I have been spared that experience, but I have been in churches that have had charismatic takeovers. Have you any thoughts on that?
“The Calvinists in Geneva figured that if the Baptists prefer immersion then theyd deal with the problem by drowning them. They killed over 900 of them, most of them by holding them under the waters of Lake Geneva until they could no longer breathe.”
I was looking for a specific link for the above.
