You have link for your accusation? I guess Baptists are pro-slavery and segregation because of the Southern Baptist church that split from the Northen Baptist churches 150 years ago. I don’t see how any of this edifies fellow beleivers.

” . . . the Southern Baptist church . . . “

That would be the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC).

There is no such thing as THE Southern Baptist CHURCH.

Baptists, including those affiliated with the SBC, adhere to the autonomy of the local assembly. Baptist churches are self-governing. Saying THE Southern Baptist CHURCH is a mis-characterization from many who are denominationalists.

Huh?

1. Yes, the SBC broke from the Northern Convention in the mid 1800s, in part, because of the slavery issue. Also, the SBC has since apologized for its position (that it held in the century before last) on slavery. Now, well over 20% of students in SBC seminaries are African-American. When I received a degree from a SBC seminary, 25% of my graduating class was black. In various doc seminars I've taken, anywhere from 20 to 50% of the classes consisted of African-Americans.

As to the question of whether these posts on FR are "edifying to believers;" I don't think that is the purpose here. The purpose is to discuss and even debate issues in which we are all interested.

Finally as to whether I have a "link for my accusation..." Presumably you are referring to my throw-away quip that Calvinists take over baptist churches. Anyone who has been in a church that has been victim of an attempted or successful Calvinist takeover knows exactly what I am talking about.
