7 When you pray, dont babble on and on as people of other religions do. They think their prayers are answered merely by repeating their words again and again. 8 Dont be like them, for your Father knows exactly what you need even before you ask him! 9 Pray like this: Our Father in heaven, --New Living Translation 7And when you pray, do not heap up phrases (multiply words, repeating the same ones over and over) as the Gentiles do, for they think they will be heard for their much speaking. [I Kings 18:25-29.] 8Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask Him. 9Pray, therefore, like this: 15But if you do not forgive others their trespasses [their [j]reckless and willful sins, [k]leaving them, letting them go, and [l]giving up resentment], neither will your Father forgive you your trespasses. --Amplified Pray with Simplicity 5"And when you come before God, don't turn that into a theatrical production either. All these people making a regular show out of their prayers, hoping for stardom! Do you think God sits in a box seat? 6"Here's what I want you to do: Find a quiet, secluded place so you won't be tempted to role-play before God. Just be there as simply and honestly as you can manage. The focus will shift from you to God, and you will begin to sense his grace. 7-13"The world is full of so-called prayer warriors who are prayer-ignorant. They're full of formulas and programs and advice, peddling techniques for getting what you want from God. Don't fall for that nonsense. This is your Father you are dealing with, and he knows better than you what you need. With a God like this loving you, you can pray very simply. Like this: 16-18"When you practice some appetite-denying discipline to better concentrate on God, don't make a production out of it. It might turn you into a small-time celebrity but it won't make you a saint. If you 'go into training' inwardly, act normal outwardly. Shampoo and comb your hair, brush your teeth, wash your face. God doesn't require attention-getting devices. He won't overlook what you are doing; he'll reward you well. |

I understand such a response . . .
Sometimes the truth hurts all of us.
However, I don’t think putting some ice on it would help.
I’m beginning to think you came from a spaceship
Q. What are the keys of the kingdom? A. The preaching of the holy gospel and Christian discipline toward repentance. Both preaching and discipline open the kingdom of heaven to believers and close it to unbelievers.^1 ^1 Matt. 16:19; John 20:22-23
Q & A 84 Q. How does preaching the gospel open and close the kingdom of heaven? A. According to the command of Christ: The kingdom of heaven is opened by proclaiming and publicly declaring to all believers, each and every one, that, as often as they accept the gospel promise in true faith, God, because of what Christ has done, truly forgives all their sins. The kingdom of heaven is closed, however, by proclaiming and publicly declaring to unbelievers and hypocrites that, as long as they do not repent, the anger of God and eternal condemnation rest on them. God's judgment, both in this life and in the life to come, is based on this gospel testimony.^1 ^1 Matt. 16:19; John 3:31-36; 20:21-23
Q & A 85 Q. How is the kingdom of heaven closed and opened by Christian discipline? A. According to the command of Christ: Those who, though called Christians, profess unchristian teachings or live unchristian lives, and after repeated and loving counsel refuse to abandon their errors and wickedness, and after being reported to the church, that is, to its officers, fail to respond also to their admonition such persons the officers exclude from the Christian fellowship by withholding the sacraments from them, and God himself excludes them from the kingdom of Christ.^1 Such persons, when promising and demonstrating genuine reform, are received again as members of Christ and of his church.^2 ^1 Matt. 18:15-20; 1 Cor. 5:3-5, 11-13; 2 Thess. 3:14-15 ^2 Luke 15:20-24; 2 Cor. 2:6-11Q & A 83

No, disagree.

As the Acts, chapter ten, account points out Cornelius was sent by an angel to find Peter the day before Peter was informed by vision what had already been put into force.
What Peter would loose would be the thing already loosed (or bound) and that is the sense of the Greek. (Matt. 16:19-21)
Since the Greek doesn't have tenses in the way the English does the tense expressed is often misplaced.
The sense of the Greek is of an action begun in the past and is or has effects continuing into the present.
Try googling “dedemenon greek” for some better explanations.
So no, the binding and loosing was not forgiveness of sins.
As to the kingdom being “within”, I assume you mean being a condition within us as individuals, but I think that is a misunderstanding what the kingdom is and what was meant by “within”.
There must be a spiritual change in anyone who enters the kingdom, he must be re-born. Once a person has made the profession of faith, he lives as a called disciple and that entails abiding faithfully in the Word of God and obeying Christ’s commands.
With what do you disagree? Acts chapter 10 would seem to make my point.
just there’s more to it than that, I think we are in agreement for the most part
For the meaning of “entos” see Thayer’s Greek-English Lexicon, #1787.
Say like a “gender neutral” translation? No “Oh Brother!” allowed but “Oh Person!” is o.k.
“You may not “recall”, so let me help you”
Thomas wasn’t there to hear Jesus say:(Jhn 20:17, “Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and [to] my God, and your God.”
One of the problems we encounter is protestants are all lumped together in one box..
Those outside do not understand the reformation had a core belief that motivated the move from Rome.
Likewise.
Thx thx.
Yeah, that's what I thought. Good to see you again too. I hope all is well with you and yours.
