7 When you pray, dont babble on and on as people of other religions do. They think their prayers are answered merely by repeating their words again and again. 8 Dont be like them, for your Father knows exactly what you need even before you ask him! 9 Pray like this: Our Father in heaven, --New Living Translation 7And when you pray, do not heap up phrases (multiply words, repeating the same ones over and over) as the Gentiles do, for they think they will be heard for their much speaking. [I Kings 18:25-29.] 8Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask Him. 9Pray, therefore, like this: 15But if you do not forgive others their trespasses [their [j]reckless and willful sins, [k]leaving them, letting them go, and [l]giving up resentment], neither will your Father forgive you your trespasses. --Amplified Pray with Simplicity 5"And when you come before God, don't turn that into a theatrical production either. All these people making a regular show out of their prayers, hoping for stardom! Do you think God sits in a box seat? 6"Here's what I want you to do: Find a quiet, secluded place so you won't be tempted to role-play before God. Just be there as simply and honestly as you can manage. The focus will shift from you to God, and you will begin to sense his grace. 7-13"The world is full of so-called prayer warriors who are prayer-ignorant. They're full of formulas and programs and advice, peddling techniques for getting what you want from God. Don't fall for that nonsense. This is your Father you are dealing with, and he knows better than you what you need. With a God like this loving you, you can pray very simply. Like this: 16-18"When you practice some appetite-denying discipline to better concentrate on God, don't make a production out of it. It might turn you into a small-time celebrity but it won't make you a saint. If you 'go into training' inwardly, act normal outwardly. Shampoo and comb your hair, brush your teeth, wash your face. God doesn't require attention-getting devices. He won't overlook what you are doing; he'll reward you well. |

So we should NEVER praise ANYONE for ANYTHING except God? What odd cult teaches such nonsense?
Do you NEVER praise your son?
No.
I send my son to the best school I could find in the area. I don't support the non Biblical behavior and by God's grace he sees it for what it is. His one criteria for college is "NO GROTTO"!
Mormonism reads like a bad sci-fi novel.
I’ve read more believable science fiction.

The point which escapes so many Roman Catholic apologists is that ALL praise for creation, for sustenance; for faith; for grace; for salvation; for guidance; for protection; for life and love and family and home and food and good health ALL belongs to the Triune God alone "from whom ALL blessings flow."
No blessings flow from Mary. None. Nada.
Look to the source.
You should try it. It can only help.
I didn’t need to interview them. They were plenty vocal about their beliefs without being asked for their opinion.
How they felt was no mystery, just as it isn’t here.
We can be sure that the Pharisees of the Reformation will say, as the Pharisees said to the man born blind,"You were born in utter sin, and would you teach US?" Then they would return to thanking God that they are not as other men are, "... or even as this Catholic."
The god they proclaim is an exigent god who makes sure everyone believes just the right stuff in just the right way, and if they don't he rejects them and gives his servants authority to torment them.

If you're paying tuition, you're supporting the school.
Wow!
1600+ (mostly acrimonious) posts in less than four days!
How many folks here have changed their minds on any of these issues discussed?
If you want to support Marian worship have at it. Bowing down and praying to statues of Mary expecting these prayers to be given special treatment is wrong.
Believing Mary has special powers to hear prayers from thousands of people simultaneously and to then filter which ones deserve consideration is wrong. It confers god like powers on her which is wrong.
I'll be happy to discuss this heresy with you tomorrow.
Heaven only will tell.
There are thousands of lurkers.
I did nothing of the sort and I resent your saying that. My comment had nothing to do with your "honesty" nor with your "candor." I posted your tag from yesterday and I posted your tag from today.
Is there no end to the victim-hood of RC apologists?
We simply mirror what the RC apologist says and believes. If you have a problem with that, say and believe something closer to Biblical historic Christianity. Mary is not a "dispensatrix of all graces."
NO I am not a predestinationist, not simply. I just propose that there is only one Body of Christ, and to be saved is to be a member of that Body.
As to what the Cathnolic Church taught in the first q500 years of its existence, whether you think the Church was founded sometime in the first century or the 4th, Dante wrote within the first 1500 years of the Church's history.
I've laid it up along with the original excerpts in the hopes of meditating on each one of the points later this evening.
Stop. You're breaking my heart.
I posted your tag from yesterday and I posted your tag from today.
And that's all? Nothing else? Nothing to suggest that the change in tag had some particular cause or motive?
I quote your post in full, with the "interesting" part in bold:
Now this is interesting. For months your tag has been "Oh Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee."If I were you, I'd resent while the resenting was good. But beginning today you've changed your tag to "Deus autem noster in caelo;* omnia quaecumque voluit fecit. Alleluia."
And now you tell us "Mary is not my personal saviourette."
Not today, anyway.
I'm sitting here wondering, "What did I write? I hope I still think that ..."
No answer eh?
