7 When you pray, dont babble on and on as people of other religions do. They think their prayers are answered merely by repeating their words again and again. 8 Dont be like them, for your Father knows exactly what you need even before you ask him! 9 Pray like this: Our Father in heaven, --New Living Translation 7And when you pray, do not heap up phrases (multiply words, repeating the same ones over and over) as the Gentiles do, for they think they will be heard for their much speaking. [I Kings 18:25-29.] 8Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask Him. 9Pray, therefore, like this: 15But if you do not forgive others their trespasses [their [j]reckless and willful sins, [k]leaving them, letting them go, and [l]giving up resentment], neither will your Father forgive you your trespasses. --Amplified Pray with Simplicity 5"And when you come before God, don't turn that into a theatrical production either. All these people making a regular show out of their prayers, hoping for stardom! Do you think God sits in a box seat? 6"Here's what I want you to do: Find a quiet, secluded place so you won't be tempted to role-play before God. Just be there as simply and honestly as you can manage. The focus will shift from you to God, and you will begin to sense his grace. 7-13"The world is full of so-called prayer warriors who are prayer-ignorant. They're full of formulas and programs and advice, peddling techniques for getting what you want from God. Don't fall for that nonsense. This is your Father you are dealing with, and he knows better than you what you need. With a God like this loving you, you can pray very simply. Like this: 16-18"When you practice some appetite-denying discipline to better concentrate on God, don't make a production out of it. It might turn you into a small-time celebrity but it won't make you a saint. If you 'go into training' inwardly, act normal outwardly. Shampoo and comb your hair, brush your teeth, wash your face. God doesn't require attention-getting devices. He won't overlook what you are doing; he'll reward you well. |

When I said the rosary I thought about the mystery when I read it.. and then thought about the prayers when I said them.. I never figured out how to meditate on 2 separate thoughts at the same time
Some folks’ reality testing seems to be slipping on this thread.
Amazing. Evidently God’s Truth has struck home to a very uncomfortable degree.
Actually, by admitting that she is Catholic, according to all the FRoman Catholics herein on this thread, that should answer all the questions we have about what she believes, so there is no need to ask that any more.
The only reason that anyone does is that when some former Catholic comes clean about what the Catholic church teaches and the FRoman Catholics come back with *That’s not true, that’s not what Catholics believe* then of course they are going to be asked what they believe.
Again, it gets back to the positive telling what you really do believe, vs the endless negative *No, we don’t believe that, try again* tactic.
If someone is going to tell me that I have wrong information, I fully expect them to provide the right information instead of being left to guess over and over again.
Otherwise, I can rightly conclude they have nothing of value to add and that I was right in the first place.
No.
It’s not that I can’t.
It’s that some folks don’t deserve such a courtesy for the 48th time.
We declare, pronounce, and define that the doctrine which holds that the most Blessed Virgin Mary, in the first instance of her conception, by a singular grace and privilege granted by Almighty God, in view of the merits of Jesus Christ, the Savior of the human race, was preserved free from all stain of original sin, is a doctrine revealed by God and therefore to be believed firmly and constantly by all the faithful.
MUCH AGREE.
Take care.
If you read more of the thread, it’s a riot.
God have mercy . . . off to dinner.
Blessings,
WHAT FARCICAL NONSENSE
as I’ve demonstrated at length.
How DARE you post FACTS on this thread?!?!?!?!
Nondenominationa!
I was answering what RnMomof7 claimed about Catholic teaching. The dogmatic definition clearly indicated that Our Lord preemptively and actively saved her, as He is clearly able to do.
I really want to know the consequences for asking Catholics about their beliefs on religious threads. Must be... exciting
My son played the french horn ..great and difficult instrument,,they are like Protestants..they have their own mind ..LOL
Respect mah authorita!
There’s a difference between beliefs and denomination.
There are many denominations which share basically the same beliefs.
Catholicism is not all as united as it likes to put forth. There are different flavors of Catholicism as there are Protestantism.
For example, besides the classic vanilla Roman Catholic, there’s Eastern Orthodox, Greek Orthodox, Ukrainian Catholic, Community of the Lady of All Nations, the Palmarian Catholic Church, the Philippine Independent Church, the Brazilian Catholic Apostolic Church, and the Free Catholic Church.
Then what does post 1396 mean? Here it is:
Some folks seem to delight in being absolutely outrageously . . . unaware . . . to put it extremely mildly.
I joined FR in Asia. Had I been in one of my duty stations there, a lot of what I typed would have been a serious hazard to me and definitely a serious hazard to those I related to about spiritual things and other things.
Most of me doesnt give a rip that some rabid clique sorts of folks do not seem to have the where-with-all to wrap their understanding around such facts.
I guess some folks will just have to break their arm slapping their backs over how wonderful their cluelessness is.

I am trying to catch up with it.
Just today, as I was taking a rest, I started thinking about Chist’s suffering an the Cross, taking on our sins, so that we could be saved. I started to cry, because none of us deserve His sacrifice, and I felt (feel) so ashamed.
Not just for my own weaknesses and failures, but for the rest of the human race.
We should be so ashamed, but we just go on, failing, sinning, but trying to justify it all.
The only place I can think of to go, with my tears and grief, is “unto him”.
Here’s another one: 1364
Some folks have jobs . . . and/or express things hereon . . . which make disclosing much about their personal lives very DANGEROUS.
Thats the case for me though Ive posted far more than has been wise.
It is all the worse if I end up a missionary again in Asia.

I won’t post information what would compromise my screen name, and you won’t answer the questions asked you and this is the best you can do, never post to me again?
So take your ball and go home.
Seriously, there are some strange people out there. some of us have had reasons to be concerned. Let it go
I believe there is one missionary from China that sometimes posts here.. For some their very lives are at risk if they are found out..
It is easy to be brave if it is not your neck in the block
