7 When you pray, dont babble on and on as people of other religions do. They think their prayers are answered merely by repeating their words again and again. 8 Dont be like them, for your Father knows exactly what you need even before you ask him! 9 Pray like this: Our Father in heaven, --New Living Translation 7And when you pray, do not heap up phrases (multiply words, repeating the same ones over and over) as the Gentiles do, for they think they will be heard for their much speaking. [I Kings 18:25-29.] 8Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask Him. 9Pray, therefore, like this: 15But if you do not forgive others their trespasses [their [j]reckless and willful sins, [k]leaving them, letting them go, and [l]giving up resentment], neither will your Father forgive you your trespasses. --Amplified Pray with Simplicity 5"And when you come before God, don't turn that into a theatrical production either. All these people making a regular show out of their prayers, hoping for stardom! Do you think God sits in a box seat? 6"Here's what I want you to do: Find a quiet, secluded place so you won't be tempted to role-play before God. Just be there as simply and honestly as you can manage. The focus will shift from you to God, and you will begin to sense his grace. 7-13"The world is full of so-called prayer warriors who are prayer-ignorant. They're full of formulas and programs and advice, peddling techniques for getting what you want from God. Don't fall for that nonsense. This is your Father you are dealing with, and he knows better than you what you need. With a God like this loving you, you can pray very simply. Like this: 16-18"When you practice some appetite-denying discipline to better concentrate on God, don't make a production out of it. It might turn you into a small-time celebrity but it won't make you a saint. If you 'go into training' inwardly, act normal outwardly. Shampoo and comb your hair, brush your teeth, wash your face. God doesn't require attention-getting devices. He won't overlook what you are doing; he'll reward you well. |

Thank you.
I see those assertions as . . . essentially . . .
disingenuous, fairly brazen, somewhat intellectually dishonest cop-outs.
The quites from Ferraro about the Rosary, Mary etc are 100% accurate with the pages given, if not the line item numbers given.
The facts of those horrid heresies have yet to be remotely dealt with candidly by ANY Roman Catholic et al hereon.
Just as no Roman Catholic et al hereon has
YET
to assert candidly, forthrightly, at all, much less unequivocably that
they GIVE THEIR ALL UNRESERVEDLY TO JESUS THE CHRIST.
There aren’t any ROMANS on the thread.
What is your denomination?
What’s the point of knowing what denomination I belong to go to? Exactly what information are you looking for and why? What are you going to do with it?
Are you knowledgeable enough about every protestant denomination that you can make some sort of determination about... what exactly? about the people who go there?
Quix is right. Saying you’re Catholic does not risk compromising one’s screen name as mentioning a specific denomination can do. There are so many Catholic churches in most cities and so many adherents in most parishes, that saying you’re Catholic is not that identifying. And it’s no more specific than saying one is Protestant, as those are the two major branches of Christianity.
I’m not going to be hounded into giving information that will compromise my screen name. I have nothing to hide about my beliefs and have posted them openly on this and other forums. I’m not ashamed of it either. But I will not risk providing information that would adversely affect me and my family.
If you’d like to continue to make an issue of it and accuse me of hiding something or being ashamed of something or whatever, we can have the RM decide the issue.
Indeed.. I think that when Catholics hear the churches teaching without all the spit and polish on them they do not like how the unvarnished the doctrine sounds. So they deny it, ignore it or call us liars.. But instead of doing that they need to consider that the rest of the Protestant world hears their doctrine just that way ...no ecclesiastical blinders on . Some of it sounds just as fanciful as the Mormon doctrine or scientology doctrine we hear ..an unpleasant truth, but the truth just the same
If I gave out one more piece of the right kind of personal information without giving out my name, there are a lot of people who could very easily figure out who I was.
Not going to happen.
I like my relatively dull, uneventful life.
Exactly. What difference does it matter what box you stand in on sunday? The difference is in doctrine, ie, is Christ your Savior, is Buddha your savior, or is Mary your saviorette?
Here’s a personal opinion - everybody take off your “martyr” hats when you come to the RF or stick to the devotional or caucus posts.
Amen
I’m sure I’m not alone, but my experience has been the more heated the discussion the greater the opportunity to learn something new. It seems that those that can’t defend their beliefs are the first to cry foul.
= = =
INDEED. I hadn’t realized it—but
THAT’S REALLY TRUE VIRTUALLY ALL THE TIME.
THAT THE MORE INTENSE, THE MORE LIKELY ONE IS TO LEARN SOMETHING NEW.
I LOVE THAT!
Well, of blind and stupid, blind is better.
Why?
EXCELLENT.
I believe that’s how we are Biblically instructed to talk to Him.
I think Obama has brought out the old gang:)
No, not an issue. Just don’t ever ask me anything about my beliefs again. Ever.
That’s not a problem.
FWIW, if someone is saying something good about me, I don’t care if I don’t get pinged; I don’t need to see it.
If someone is casting me in a negative light somehow, I do care in that I want to be able to defend myself.
No problem. Just don’t ask Catholics anything about their beliefs, ever, again.
Some folks seem to delight in being absolutely outrageously . . . unaware . . . to put it extremely mildly.
I joined FR in Asia. Had I been in one of my duty stations there, a lot of what I typed would have been a serious hazard to me and definitely a serious hazard to those I related to about spiritual things and other things.
Most of me doesn’t give a rip that some rabid clique sorts of folks do not seem to have the where-with-all to wrap their understanding around such facts.
I guess some folks will just have to break their arm slapping their backs over how wonderful their cluelessness is.
Don’t respond, except through faith in Christ. We are all members of the same body and we all are to simply glorify our Lord.
Where our fellow brothers and sisters are misled, we simply present them with the truth and encourage them to return to Him through faith in Christ, by the pastor-teachers He provides.
We all have different roles in His Plan.
lol, and if I do, what then?
Oh Yes there are.
What is your denomination?
Technically Christian Reformed, which is of Reformed Churches of America, which is the American version of Dutch Reformed... Though I am attending (affiliated, non-member) a Presbyterian OPC.
That being said, I am a poor Calvinist, preferring the pasture to the pens. I seek Christ in the ancient way.
Which one? There are several we're waiting on.
