The Vatican Museums are the among the world’s most important art museums.

Yes, well, how DARE they have a statue of Diana!

Sometimes I wish we could use that "Not this [stuff] again" photo.

>>anyone that can not defend their faith, <<

What makes you think you are important enough for me to defend anything to?

As FReeper Hegewisch Dupa says
Too many here can’t wait to unzip their dogma and swing it around in an obnoxious superiority dance.

The internet is anonymous , my guess is people feel freer to say what they think here ..that is human nature

I am a smart A** and I grew up in a house where humor was sarcasm at its best..so i love a quick jab sometimes ..that is my form of humor ..but not everyone thinks it is always funny

So if I shoot off a wise a** answer it is never personal..

Well, until the “reformed” “protestants” start getting Catholic beliefs straight, I don’t think I’ll bother. When people start telling me what I believe, and how wrong I am to believe it, I tend to write them as goofy.

So what you are saying is that the system of beliefs are part of the religion.

Are you saying that a FR poster must act on those beliefs in order to be saved?

Throughout the history of Christianity there have been some who are called to a monastic life, people who dedicate their entire lives to pray and worship.

The vast majority of us DO NOT fall into that category. Does this mean that we love God any less? Does this mean that we are somehow choosing not to honor God? Does this mean that we are somehow offending God? To believe this would be absurd.

I have seen Matthew 25:31-46 dismissed by non-Catholics on here more times than I can remember. I occassionally look at the websites of non-Catholic churches that have past sermons online and I NEVER see this passage as the subject of a sermon. But this passage makes one thing very clear, we worship God by the way we live, NOT by what we say.

Judith IMHO it is over the top.. If my sons do something great..I have no part in it and deserve no credit.. if someone want to tell me he is terrific thats great or that I did a good job that is great, but i do not deserve their awards or pay raise :)

I know of several who have left or who will no longer participate....

As do I - and IMO the forum is a better place for their absence. I'm especially delighted to say that the cafe appears to be permanently closed. I guess HP is no longer sponsoring it.

....there need to be better standards on the RF than simply "thin-skinned" posters are the disruptors on open threads." Maybe there should be no open threads.

You can always start your own message board, if you really feel that way. The Catholics here give at least as good as they get.

Another comment: this morning I went to the website of He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named, and found a lot of the very same phrases, scriptures, and ideas that are used to rebut Catholic precepts here on FR are THERE. It certainly appears that while not giving attribution to the unacceptable source, the unacceptable source is being used.

I'm always amused when I hear of Catholics going to that website. I can name more Catholics citing it (18+ at last count) than I can Protestants.

Ding, ding, ding. We have a winner.

I mean, look at this statement:

“Until you quit worshipping Mary, you won’t realize you are worshipping Mary.” Or this one: “You’re worshipping Mary, you just don’t know it. I know it. Therefore, I’m here to tell you, you are worshipping Mary.”

Honestly, how does that even make sense?

That depends on the religion. For some, contending for the faith means prosecuting the beliefs they are against as much as advocating the beliefs they are for.

There are some on here who probably belong to religious groups that believe you must express how much you hate Catholics in order to REALLY be “saved”, this would be consistent with hate groups throughout history.

Put your glass down, you’ll get your punch.

You're going to punch a person without glasses?

I can foresee a problem, though, with other FReepers who will demand that you take sides, to the detriment of our attempts at FRiendship. I wouldn’t like to see you put in a bad position with others.

Not from/with this FReeper.

How about, "...misrepresenting and prosecuting the beliefs...etc." That would be more accurate.

Thank you!

Funny how the person who feels that we all need to defend our faith never asks themselves why do they feel the need to take their own otherwise very decent religion (celebrating common ground) and pervert it to the degree that they need to attack fellow Christians. Little too much Muslim-flavor in that approach for my tastes.

Which Christians? Does that mean their salvation depends on turning hearts?

I’d like to do some research about them. I try to be open minded and understanding. I have some really Traditional Catholics in my parish, that go past what we are supposed to. At least if I can read about where they stand, I can get where they are coming from.
