That depends on the religion. For some, contending for the faith means prosecuting the beliefs they are against as much as advocating the beliefs they are for.
How about, "...misrepresenting and prosecuting the beliefs...etc." That would be more accurate.

Which Christians? Does that mean their salvation depends on turning hearts?
I’d like to do some research about them. I try to be open minded and understanding. I have some really Traditional Catholics in my parish, that go past what we are supposed to. At least if I can read about where they stand, I can get where they are coming from.
