7 When you pray, dont babble on and on as people of other religions do. They think their prayers are answered merely by repeating their words again and again. 8 Dont be like them, for your Father knows exactly what you need even before you ask him! 9 Pray like this: Our Father in heaven, --New Living Translation 7And when you pray, do not heap up phrases (multiply words, repeating the same ones over and over) as the Gentiles do, for they think they will be heard for their much speaking. [I Kings 18:25-29.] 8Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask Him. 9Pray, therefore, like this: 15But if you do not forgive others their trespasses [their [j]reckless and willful sins, [k]leaving them, letting them go, and [l]giving up resentment], neither will your Father forgive you your trespasses. --Amplified Pray with Simplicity 5"And when you come before God, don't turn that into a theatrical production either. All these people making a regular show out of their prayers, hoping for stardom! Do you think God sits in a box seat? 6"Here's what I want you to do: Find a quiet, secluded place so you won't be tempted to role-play before God. Just be there as simply and honestly as you can manage. The focus will shift from you to God, and you will begin to sense his grace. 7-13"The world is full of so-called prayer warriors who are prayer-ignorant. They're full of formulas and programs and advice, peddling techniques for getting what you want from God. Don't fall for that nonsense. This is your Father you are dealing with, and he knows better than you what you need. With a God like this loving you, you can pray very simply. Like this: 16-18"When you practice some appetite-denying discipline to better concentrate on God, don't make a production out of it. It might turn you into a small-time celebrity but it won't make you a saint. If you 'go into training' inwardly, act normal outwardly. Shampoo and comb your hair, brush your teeth, wash your face. God doesn't require attention-getting devices. He won't overlook what you are doing; he'll reward you well. |
Mark Kirby: O Mother of Good Counsel, I am all thine, Most Holy Mary, There is no part of my life that is not open to thee, I want to be completely transparent with thee, Praying in this way, I can be at rest, |

Whether one considers it well defended or not, we do have a faith to defend.I don't believe the FR Reformed do.
Here on the religion forum, the ratio of positive exposition of Reformed doctrine to the negative attempts to deconstruct Catholic doctrine is quite revealing.
It seems the FReformed exist for the sole purpose of proving Catholicism wrong.
It seems the FReformed don't evangelize so much as make the end goal of their efforts here the formulation of posts designed to bring them personal satisfaction. However, the negative efforts of the FReformed do have a positive: through their efforts, they have affirmed Catholicism.
Borderline high.
Wonder what it was when you were e-screaming upthread.
Wow! Folks should take a minute or two to look at that!
Given the falling European protestant membership, I'd be surprised if they can afford candles or flowers.
How "post modern "can't we all just get along "
Scripture tells us to have an answer for every man for the hope we have in us..
Shutting down doctrinal discussion does not help the Catholic church, anyone that can not defend their faith, or that is disturbed by it only shows they hold a weak anemic faith that can only survive without thought or challange
And here's some flowers:
(You will notice that the flowers on the tomb match the flowers on the altar, they are put there by the church.)
Anti-Catholicism is evidently part of Protestant beliefs.
Anti-Gnosticism and anti-Faith alone are evidently part of Catholic beliefs.
And so on.
Freepers shall have fora to express their religious beliefs whether pro or con.
Again, if you "take it personally" when another Freeper condemns your beliefs, religious authorities or deities - then you should completely IGNORE "open" RF threads and instead read and post to RF "caucus" "ecumenical" "devotional" or "prayer" threads.
There is a niche for everyone on the Religion Forum.
Soon it may be as dead as Catholicism over there...look at Europe and we see where post modern America is going.. a Godless secular society that none of us should celebrtate
WELL said.
Big Blue Font: “Pay attention to ME, pay attention to ME.”
Putting flowers on a tomb is tradition the world over.. looks like a childs tomb ..wonder who it is??
Now, anyone need a glass of punch?
Yes, though I might pull the pig blood reference for tackiness or as a slur if used in the context of Islamic Fundamentalism.
I think your wording is 2 sided Mod :)
How about
Catholics are anti protestant
Protestants are anti catholic
OR
Catholics are anti faith alone
Protestants are anti works righteousness/works salvation
I think it is good to use the same terms
Anti-Gnosticism and anti-Faith alone are evidently part of Catholic beliefs. I could agree with that.
By relatives, not by Protestant churches.
looks like a childs tomb
It's not.
wonder who it is??
Do you really want to know? I'll give you a hint, the person is ALSO shown in one of the pictures in post 975 kneeling in front of the Crucifixion.
Anti-Catholicism is evidently part of Protestant beliefs.
Anti-Gnosticism and anti-Faith alone are evidently part of Catholic beliefs.
I could agree with that.
“Why wouldn’t we use the means He has provided?”
Phil. 4:6-7, “Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”
Rom. 3:23-25, For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;”
Heb. 9:14, How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?
Seems pretty clear which person the Godhead deemed the executor of their plans and purpose.
Judith, I guess I would prefer no posts be pulled.. if we can not disagree and debate and at the end of the day still like each other as people then we all have a problem ..
It ya hit at me I will block and punch and know you will do the same..
We are overly sensitive today IMHO.. Luther and Erasmus hit hard at each other..but held each other in personal respect..
I respect people who defend their faith..
All this to say you are OK with me:)
