For one thing, Paul is not praying TO other believers for them to do something for him that only God the Father can do.

Here on earth, we can't read each others minds. So in order for people to pray for him, we have to tell our requests to each other.

Now, presuming that people in heaven to whom someone prays can hear their prayers, that person in heaven must be able to somehow be able to know what's going on here on earth. If they can hear our prayers and know what's going on on earth, then there's no need for us to pray TO them.

Now maybe they do pray for us, BUT, we are not and never have been commanded to pray to them for us.

So why not pray to any dead person then? Could be they're in heaven capable of praying for us and granting us favors like those who have been labeled *saints* are. Then I could pray to my dead parents or grandparents just as easily as to someone the Catholic Church calls a saint.

Why not that?

If one feels the need to give Catholics a hard time, is it because own their faith is weak?

/roll eyes....

Not THAT old canard again......

That is what everyone resorts to when losing an argument.

Praying to Mary, or ANYONE else for that matter, is NOT instructed or commanded in the Bible.

If you perceive that speaking the truth is giving someone a *hard time* then you need to look at what you're really believing.

Read the Gospels and tell me ANYWHERE where Jesus commands us to pray to ANYONE besides God the Father.

Translated directly from the Hebrew:
Our father in heaven
may your name be sanctified
may your kingdom be blessed
your will shall be done in heaven and on earth
give us our bread continually
forgive us the debt of our sins
as we forgive the debt of those who sin against us
do not bring us into the hands of a test
and protect us from all evil
amen

Define hate Quix.

Why don't you? Catholics accuse those who expose erroneous Catholic doctrine as *hate*. Tell us what makes it hate and how.

The *you must have weak faith* canard.

It’s been used too many times and has no more credibility.

Show us where in the Bible, we are instructed to pray to ANYONE else but God the Father or Jesus. Praying to saints and Mary is an unscriptural doctrine and practice.

I’ll be waiting......

The role of teaching children fits the authentic Mary quite well, imho.

No offense intended, but why?

I've never seen anything in Scripture that she was given this kind of a role.

“Show us where in the Bible, we are instructed to pray to ANYONE else but God the Father or Jesus”

For that matter, where are we ever instructed in the Bible to pray to Jesus? He died to give us direct access to the father; that’s what justification and reconciliation is all about.

I realize it’s a bit of a bow to my own fantasy about Mary.

When I read the bit about her and Elizabeth, they just sound like two very devoted motherly types.

And, I think I had my own speculations and fantasies about aborted babies being matured and taught the ways of God in Heaven before I ever heard Heavenly Visitation narratives about such.

So, it kind of made a rosey fantasy in my own mind that the Visitation narratives sort of put a convincing cap on . . . for me.

I don’t KNOW that it’s Gospel truth. It IS plausible.

Not anything to build a doctrine on!

I can't "put her" anywhere but where she is.

Where do you believe she is?

I take umbrage that you would try to force upon anyone a title which is specifically taught against in Scripture.

My youngest son is at a RC high school. We get along just fine with the priests. I don't call them father. I call them Priest, or Pastor. They don't seem to mind it.
