Mary of Nazareth As The Bible Defines Her
The Ignorant Fishermen Blog ^ | 4/8/10 | DJP I.F.

This study seeks to present from God's Holy Word what the Bible teaches about Mary of Nazareth, the young Jewish virgin that bore the Messiah, the Savior of the World. In this study we will seek to look at EVERY Bible verse found in the Holy Scriptures that pertains to Mary of Nazareth. Be sure to check out all the links for this study, for they will provide a deeper perspective into the person of Mary.

Introduction

In beginning this study, the clarifying statement should be made that the Bible, God’s infallible (reliable) and immaculate (perfect) Word, is the FINAL AUTHORITY when it comes to ALL matters pertaining to the truth of Christianity, which includes Mary (2 Peter 1:20-21; 2 Timothy 3:16).

The Lord Jesus Christ gave countless warnings to BEWARE false teachers and false teachings. And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man DECEIVE YOU (Gospel of Saint Matthew 24:4).

Saint Paul also warned us to BEWARE of false teachings and fables. Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables (2 Timothy 4:2-4).

Mary’s final words in the Bible are some of the best advice you could ever get.

All I can say to such an insult to the Blessed Mother of God is this: you are ignorant indeed!

An attack on the Immaculate Conception and the perpetual virginity of Mary.

The Immaculate Conception doctrine is debatable among Christians, but Mary’s perpetual virginity has always been Christian tradition. To claim that the Bible teaches against it is simply false.

The larger question, I suppose, is why some who imagine themselves Christian feel the need to be so strongly schismatic.

A hit on Mary and the Catholic Church entangling them both with Satan is what I’d refer to as demonic. But fear not; maybe your guardian angel has very long arms.

“For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables (2 Timothy 4:2-4).”

A so St. Paul prophesied the reformation would come...

“To claim that the Bible teaches against it is simply false”

Relying on the Infancy Gospel of James? or some false writing like it?

The really pregnant question is how could someone who fancies himself a Bible scholar pretend to write a treatise on the Bible's definition of Mary with reference to 1 Luke 28?

Mt friend...It's all Scripture... I said nothing... You do not have a problem with me but with the Holy Spirit.

I didn't mean to offered your OWN thoughts about her... but just pointing via Scripture to what the Scriptures speak about her.

My dear Friend, Humble your self and let the Holy Scriptures describe her to you... she still is as lovely as ever!

There is NO SARCASIM AT ALL.... Immaculate Conception and the perpetual virginity of Mary does not exist in the Bible. As you stated it is a tradition not Scriptural fact. Please try to find it. We listed evry verse pertaining to Mary found in the Holy Script. I know this must be a blow to all that you have been taught as it was to me. But I want to see her as Almighty God's Word states and describes her. She still is lovely. Let her be who she truly is. That is God's commandment.

If your or my “view” contradicts any single jot or tittle of Holy Script it is Satanic and it is rebellion. That is not my personal evaluation and warning but Almighty God's. You don't have a problem with me but with Almighty God. Read the verses and point out my error about Mary. Dear friend let go of your tradition and just believe God and His Word.

Yes, Mary’s perpetual virginity is not explicitly in the Bible. More to the point, neither is your anti-virginity thesis.

Even more importantly, your schismatic attack on traditional Orthodox, Catholic, Protestant Christians is simply evil. It does you no credit.

I don't think I've ever seen a more perfect example of misapplication of scripture. What "sound doctrine" were the reformers not enduring - the purchase of indulgences, perhaps? And what "lusts" was William Tyndale fulfilling by getting himself burned at the stake?

LOL.. Are you so blind?... great verse… but who follows TRADITIONS? and who has given themselves over to false teachers and fables... Is it not all those who reject this teaching and the majority of Scriptures. All I posted was Scripture verses pertaining to Mary. Why does that bother you. If you were aligned with god you would Amen this post…

Back your position with the Holy Scripture. You can’t. I know. I was once like you. Don’t be offended of what God’s Holy Word clearly teaches.. Be bold, brave and believe!!!! but in doing so you will find that the majority of what you were taught, believed and trusted your whole life has been wrong. I know my friend.. That is the heart of the matter. It truly is!

————————I don’t understand. Mary had other children, by Joseph, how could she be a perpetual virgin? Yes, at the time of Christ’s immaculate conception, but not with the other children. Right? So no, I did not see this as an attack at all on the immaculate conception. But frankly, I have never heard, read or been told that Mary was always (perpetually) a virgin. Yes, that one immaculate conception is perpetual.(going on for forever). In Christian teachings, reading etc, I am not aware of a ‘tradition’ that you speak of.

Woe to them that call good evil and evil good.(Isaiah 5:20)

God’s Word clearly states that she was intament with her husband and that she had other children.

And KNEW HER NOT till she had brought forth her FIRSTBORN son: and he called his name JESUS (St. Matthew 1:18-25).

not ONLY son but her FIRSTBORN son

Note for example John 3:16-17 - Gave his ONLY begotten Son
Knew her not TILL..

It does not get any clearer then that. I know... it’s hard to let go of all that you were taught, your tradition and your whole lives perception.

This is what God’s Word teaches. It is not my opinion. My sincere desire is that you let God’s Word say what it states and mean what it means. Don’t you want to be right with God?

Mary’s perpetual virginity has been Christian teaching for two thousand years. She and Joseph did not have children after Christ. Scriptural reference to Jesus’ “brothers” could mean cousins or Joseph’s children from his first marriage. The original Greek is not the same as our English word “brother.”

See, for example:

I don’t want to argue with you. You are twisting Old English translations to claim something the original authors did not say. Why? So that you can claim that you are the only true Christian?
