That's a really strange comment. Would you please explain it?

Roman Catholics often forget that when the show began there were five principal church centers that rose to prominence over the others: Rome, Antioch, Constantinople, Jerusalem, and Alexandria. For centuries they more or less co-existed.

Over time Rome more or less was estranged from the other four. Some would say Rome estranged itself from the other four, not unlike the Protestants would in turn do to Rome.

Similarly, a strong theme in Roman Catholicism since then is to consider itself THE universal church, with a tendency to dismiss the other Four original churches - Eastern Orthodox, Copt, Chaldean, Cesarean and the various minor ones. They forget that they were once upon a time part of that greater body before more or less going it alone.

Ironically not unlike the Protestant church which broke off and went it’s own way, which the Catholics love to criticize, forgetting in fact they did much the same thing a few centuries earler. Roman Catholics are every bit as headstrong when it comes to asserting their primacy central church, they just don’t like to admit it, and I think tend to sweep that history under the rug a bit.
