New York, NY, February 18, 2010 Contrary to misleading assertions that appear on the official website of the 2010 Oberammergau Passion Play and in subsequent erroneous media reports, the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) and the American Jewish Committee (AJC) categorically state that they have not endorsed or approved the 2010 German production.
ADL and AJC are asking play officials to remove the names of their respective organizations and the names of their organizations' representatives from the official Oberammergau website and all Oberammergau press releases.
In a joint statement, Rabbi Eric Greenberg, ADL Director of the Department of Interfaith Affairs; Rabbi Noam Marans, AJC's Associate Director of Interreligious and Intergroup Relations; and Rabbi James Rudin, AJC's Senior Interreligious Adviser, said:

Ok fair enough. But you didn’t state that earlier. I would advise you to be clear when you speak.
OK, got it.
“Censorship?” ...okay, I’ll bite...what censorship?...magritte
Read here:
“ADL and AJC are asking play officials to remove the names of their respective organizations and the names of their organizations’ representatives from the official Oberammergau website and all Oberammergau press releases.”
Some more unsolicited advice: I'd advise you to be more rigorous when you read. Best construction.
If the common sense of removing unauthorized endorsements from a website were accepted, it would be a lot more difficult for Jew-bashers to exploit this thread.
Like most organizations the ADL has simply become more interested in political power than defending Jews. Why else would they attack Rush? The ADL is a thug organizarion.
Perhaps it would go well if we enlist the aid of the Palestinians in a court setting. We could have Abe Foxman and his ADL ilk present their arguments relating the passion play followed by the Palestinian leadership portraying their current passion scene orchestrated by the the Jews/Israelites. Then, take a vote consisting of a jury of Obama’s supporters to render an appropriate verdict.
Uh, they are using the two groups names WITHOUT permission....magritte
It's not censorship to say you don't want someone falsely putting your name on a press release as endorsing something you didn't endorse.
I would say that I disagree with this, but that would make me and Anti-Semite right?
Would you have a problem with someone putting your name on the cover of the Talmud falsely stating that you had endorsed it?
Yes.
If you read the article, you'll see that that's what the ADL is objecting to-- a false claim that they endorsed this Passion Play.
Why doesn’t someone get the bright idea to reenact the Book of Joshua?
I'm impressed by the ADL's implied power to send teams of translators, editors and investigators into the village of Oberammergau to expurgate every element of this theatrical production, down to blue-penciling the final details of "set designs and costuming."
There's no people like show people
They smile when they are low
Yesterday they told you you would not go far
That night you opened and there you are ...
Ethel Merman. There was no one else like her.
The disturbing thing here is that the folks running the Passion Play website felt it necessary to support the notion that they need permission from certain Jewish groups like the ADL to perform the play. The ADL is simply anti-Christian and so are many similar groups which certainly do not speak for all Jews.
