For the purpose of moderating caucuses on the Religion Forum, members of the "Catholic Caucus" are those who accept Papal Authority.

If the Catholic Caucus is to include Orthodox, it should be labeled "Catholic/Orthodox Caucus."

If the caucus is for those who believe in Christ as God, i.e. the Trinity, it should be labeled "Christian Caucus."

Many other designations may be used to limit the caucus to those who share a certain belief, e.g. Dispensationalist, LDS, Baptist.

I will be monitoring this thread to see if these meanings are adequate to avoid disruptions on Religion Forum caucuses.

As to why the “Romanists” insist on being called Catholic to the exclusion of everyone else, perhaps it’s for the same reason that Dr. Eckleburg and other Protestants insist on being called “Christian” to the exclusion of everyone else, and those in communion with the Patriarch insist on being called Orthodox that to the exclusion of everyone else.

Is it so hard to accept a term in several different senses? Do we really want to play this game? Let me know, because I’d be happy to tweak my FRiends here who are “Heterodox Presbyterians”.

your question: Are the Orthodox part of the Catholic Church?

but your post asks I just witnessed a couple of Orthodox posters get kicked off a "Catholic Caucus" thread. I thought, despite their differences, they had a mutual understanding that each sect was considered "Catholic". Are not the Orthodox considered Catholic? Why do the Romanists get to monopolize the term "Catholic"?

You're debating the constraints set by the FR admins. Take it up with them.

I believe the Orthodox would probably view it more appropriately to state that the Catholic Church is part of them. While they share many beliefs, they don't recognize papal authority over them.
