Who are the Catholics: The Orthodox or The Romanists, or both?

I just witnessed a couple of Orthodox posters get kicked off a "Catholic Caucus" thread. I thought, despite their differences, they had a mutual understanding that each sect was considered "Catholic". Are not the Orthodox considered Catholic? Why do the Romanists get to monopolize the term "Catholic"?

I consider myself to be Catholic being a part of the universal church of Christ. Why should one sect be able to use a universal concept to identify themselves in a caucus thread while other Christian denominations need to use specific qualifiers to identify themselves in a caucus thread?

The Church doesn't do that -- we're not a cult like the OPC and others. Or is the blogspot on orthodoxpresbyterianc an authorised OPC BLOG?

Quix has often jumped on the anti Catholic bandwagon, aligning with various anti Catholic posters. Of late, he has made some overtures, at the same time as launching some rather innovatively hateful posts against Catholics which kind of negate his overtures.

I have not been able to explain this phenomenon nor has Quix offered an explanation.

I’m obviously on the Arminian side, but a lot of folks I respect greatly take your stance. In my more honest moments, I admit to believing there is more to what happens than any of us see, and God hasn’t revealed it because we don’t need to know the details. We need to focus on preaching the Gospel, calling for repentance and belief and faith. How those come to be in man is probably more than my mind can imagine, let alone understand.

But on the whole, I’m Arminian.

That's the problem with sola scriptura, you've read something completely different -- "Ordered toward truth" does not mean "Is a sound judge of truth." By no means can they be the same. Instead that is projecting one's intrepeted idea of what MD is saying on MD's words. And that is what sola scriptura IS and why it is wrong.

However, we know where their tombs are, yet we do not know where the Theotokos' tomb is -- there is a reason for that, and not that her tomb was hidden -- because otherwise the tombs of the Apostles would be hidden

The Assumption -- and note I am SPECIFICALLY talking about the Assumption does not contradict scripture in any way. And you would agree with that, as there are no scriptures that that doctrine contradicts -- do you know any?

If in your interpretation of scripture you find a place where Mary's assumption by God contradicts scripture, pray, post it.

And note -- I'm asking for specifically, ONLY, about the Assumption. We can ask about other doubts you may have in subsequent posts, but remain on this topic for now, please.
