I just witnessed a couple of Orthodox posters get kicked off a "Catholic Caucus" thread. I thought, despite their differences, they had a mutual understanding that each sect was considered "Catholic". Are not the Orthodox considered Catholic? Why do the Romanists get to monopolize the term "Catholic"?
I consider myself to be Catholic being a part of the universal church of Christ. Why should one sect be able to use a universal concept to identify themselves in a caucus thread while other Christian denominations need to use specific qualifiers to identify themselves in a caucus thread?
I say no, so prove it...
If one wishes to go back over the email trail, this is something repeated again and again. However Google records that my reply to you is on the ex-poster thread that was pulled.

I thought that the first Christians hung around Jerusalem. My geography is also different, as well. You just keep getting them wrong all the time. Antioch is in present day Turkey on the eastern side of the Orontes River.
Well that's what you get for thinking instead of believing the scriptures...

The old homestead here was originally owned by Zimmermans. Had a big old wine press and huge barrel originally.
That is a very wise post. I will do my best to take it to my own heart.

Thanks for your suggestion.
I gather all would assert that the WORDS are the same?
Which one? Avery is (was?) good.
Gang: Quix wants the latest and greatest Catechismus. I was just going to go to St. Joseph’s bookstore dot com or whatever.
Is there one that’s more better than the others?
I sincerely hope not. These are among the best reads on the FR.
Certainly, that Chalcedonian Def is a headful (save for the Mary portion, you had to know I would mention that). How do we get from these statements to indulgences and effecatious sacraments and sacerdotalism and absolution and relics and...? Why did Rome "enhance" the simple faith that captured the hearts of pagans like me?
I'm digesting the rest. And, I am slower on the uptake than you.
John MacArthur gave 2 sermons about blaspheming the Holy Spirit, available free both in writing and mp3 for listening (click on download near the top of the page) here:

Hope you feel better soon!
I have a lot of compassion for even baby killers.
For all kinds of dreadfully evil creatures inflicting all kinds of pain on others, even innocents.
I’ve persistently prayed for their redemption. I will again.
I’m not sure I have sufficient explanation for such an intense rising up within me of such a spiritually intense sense. Doesn’t happen that often.
However, I usually don’t shy away from running with it.
I figure God knows when someone has crossed over the line far better than I. And I certainly don’t want such a person having MORE power for MORE destructiveness.
I also would rather have an example made to discourage others from such evils—AS LONG AS IT’S GOD MAKING THE EXAMPLE HIMSELF.
Thanks. Boy! The warning siren started flashing when I read that! The devil is real, and would tempt us to sin. There is righteous anger and no one can avoid normal human emotion, but it must be surrendered to God for His purposes. Wrath and malediction are grave sins and and delight the evil one.
St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle, be thou our safeguard against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May GOD rebuke him, we humbly pray. And do thou, o prince of the heavenly host, by the power of God, cast into hell satan and all the evil spirits who prowl about the world, seeking the ruin of souls.
I sincerely pray for the relief of anyone caught up in wrath, that God may bless him/her with joy, peace, light, and salvation.
My prayers re Coakley stand.
She has begged for such. She has such.
God, of course, will answer according to HIS WISDOM AND WILL . . . which is as I wish.
Your post is like a breath of spring after the harshness of winter.
Thank you for hanging around in this place.

“I sometimes enjoy Hooks pictures of Christ.”
I don’t. I’m reminded of the description of many paintings of Christ - ‘Lady with a Beard’!
Now, if they had one of Jesus kicking the butts of the money-changers in the Temple...
There really is only one "Catechism of the Catholic Church," in two editions, the second edition being a mere republication with errata corrected (per the editio typica).
It should be sufficient to specify the "second edition" and if purchased new, the second edition is probably the only one available.
Short answer (And stipulating "Rome" blah blah): As we see in Acts 15, Nicea, Chalcedon, etc, it is USUALLY in response to a difference of opinion which is getting out of hand or needing some kind of decision. I tend to think of it as USUALLY as more of a judicial than a legislative act.
I do -- normal human outrage.
But I was reading Revelations the other night and ran across a warning against calling down the wrath of God on anyone or anything--a scary warning, I am not joking. I'm going to go see if I can find that verse again.
That’s AWESOME! Look at His CHIN! Thrust forward. That is one angry D00d!
Oh my. You are absolutely correct, JA.
