I just witnessed a couple of Orthodox posters get kicked off a "Catholic Caucus" thread. I thought, despite their differences, they had a mutual understanding that each sect was considered "Catholic". Are not the Orthodox considered Catholic? Why do the Romanists get to monopolize the term "Catholic"?
I consider myself to be Catholic being a part of the universal church of Christ. Why should one sect be able to use a universal concept to identify themselves in a caucus thread while other Christian denominations need to use specific qualifiers to identify themselves in a caucus thread?
Listen, go ahead. When something matters to me, I'm careful about it. If I see someone using careless reasoning, I guess the thing he's talking about isn't too important to him.
Have you looked at the data comparing Protestant Clergy and Catholic Clergy and sexual misbehavior?
"Not only can it be "formed and informed" (as I like to say), but we have a DUTY to "form and inform" our consciences."
Correct. The Bible, Gods own words, are my guide. It is His words that form my conscience. For example, about 6 years ago, I decided to make a conscience effort to not take the Lords name in vain. Any time I do so, I immediately ask for forgiveness and tried to be a little more conscientious about it.
Do you know, all these years later, I still mess up!! I cannot believe how ingrained using the Lords name in vain is, not only in my psyche, but everyone around me!
Funny thing is, when I started, I would correct those around me when they said it (family and friends). I told them I was trying not to do that and it would be helpful if they "refrained" from doing it around me.
Now, when they mess up (as I still do), they ask for forgiveness and correct themselves.
The fear I have is disappointing Him. I have a guilty conscience, always have, probably always will. That is my burden. We all have burdens to bear. No one is without sin.
Oh, and one more thing....I do not want to take advantage of His kindness and sacrifice, so I try to keep myself “in line”.
SOBERING.
Soooooooooooooooo . . .
IF I’m understanding the evidence aright . . . this time from their own hand . . .
we not only are expected
to kowtow
to
RUBBER BIBLES, RUBBER DICTIONARIES, RUBBER HISTORIES, RUBBER LOGIC BOOKS BUT NOW ALSO TO RUBBER FR THREADS???
God have mercy.
So joining the uninformed crowd in spreading false and misleading commentary about Catholics and perversion is not doing wrong, or it is but this is one wrong that you don't fear, or what?
As I mentioned prior, reading the reference material catholic posters offered, was such an eye opener. How can so many be so deceived? and for so long.
It makes one wonder if all these rites and traditions, long and seemingly endless written instructions were deliberate. The truth of what they are writing is so muddled between what appears to be Christian. Therefore, if one does dig deeper into that faith, and that for some time, they would soon present their arguements likewise. And if they preach that way it is no wonder the people dont know.

Well said, imho.
Thx.
Long, convoluted arguments that contradict the simple truth of the Gospel tend to put people into a trance-like stupor. If people become convinced the Bible is too difficult to understand on their own, so much so that it makes them uncomfortable to even try to read and understand it, they will gratefully hand over their consciences and minds and faith to the “higher authority” of a bunch of old men who tell them they know best — “Do this and be saved.”
Yet Christ’s instruction is much more succinct...
“Be not afraid; only believe.” — Mark 5:36

Well and accurately put, imho.
My response was to this statement "Thats it, thats the idea: this very quote. The law of Moses, so solemnly proclaimed to the Jews to circumcise men, to stay away form pork, etc was lifted by a sovereign decision of the Church.
And I have read in previous comment(s) that the "old laws" were thrown out, so I posted scripture from the New Testament showing that we're still not allowed to worship idols, statues, images, etc.
Even the apostles argued amongst themselves, and I chance to think tempers flew at times. We are all passionate about what we believe to be true...because we are passionate toward the things of God..who is truth. When something or someone comes between the truths that we know, its quite right to stand for them,... He asks us to.
Our humanity may come into play as these are debated and mulled over, even time and time again, but in doing so the truth will in time be revealed.......and important.......IF it is truth one seeks.

Well put, imho.

Normally . . .
in my experience . . .
“chill out’
by person “A” in a relationship or exchange . . . to person “B”
presupposes
a CAPACITY to do that.
Methinks, perhaps, something happens in some Parochial schools which . . . neutralizes that capacity. Perhaps an emotional module is inserted which is on near constant overdrive.
Or maybe certain cliques in the belief system go to special retreats to learn how to be constantly wound up.
I’ve met a few Pentecostals like that, too . . . and even some Calvinists . . .
However, I think that Roman Catholics et al comprise the larger percentages of such populations.
Any failed argument here is yours.
And yes, the child abuse thing is MAJOR. Not only the priests actions, but the COVER UP.
Matthew 7:14-20 -Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it. Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.
The judgment I make is by their fruits, as we have been instructed to do.
Interesting indeed.
WOW!
TALK ABOUT BACKFIRE!
Understandable.
Do you still wonder why I don't belong to ANY religious establishment?
Very sobering.
The globalist stuff coming increasingly out of the Vatican is very disturbing.
Spreading the word NOT to worship, bow, pray to idols is not false; therefore, I have no fear in doing so.
Actually, it is my DUTY to spread the word of God.
I’ve yet to observe that silence hereon
is reliably associated with reflection on truth by certain cliques.
It’s usually a strategic withdrawal . . . avoiding either more embarrassment or more making fools of themselves until they can find a better context more benign or supportive to spew UnBiblical assaultive stuff in.
Any failed argument here is yours.
I don't think we were arguing in favor of worshipping idols.
So posting scripture time and time again saying worshipping idols is useless.
Why?
Because we never advocated worshipping idols.
Can we go over this again? Do we need to?
And yes, the child abuse thing is MAJOR. Not only the priests actions, but the COVER UP.
But somehow the abuse of children by Protestant clergy and its cover up is not huge.
This is silly.
