I just witnessed a couple of Orthodox posters get kicked off a "Catholic Caucus" thread. I thought, despite their differences, they had a mutual understanding that each sect was considered "Catholic". Are not the Orthodox considered Catholic? Why do the Romanists get to monopolize the term "Catholic"?
I consider myself to be Catholic being a part of the universal church of Christ. Why should one sect be able to use a universal concept to identify themselves in a caucus thread while other Christian denominations need to use specific qualifiers to identify themselves in a caucus thread?
You know, you end up in theological and/or ecclesiological issues without even knowing it. That's the problem with throwing around phrases like "...who accept Papal Authority." without really understanding what you are saying. As one of the Latin Rite posters pointed out, we Orthodox agree, for example, that no Ecumenical Council can occur without (in the absence of an Emperor) the Pope or his legate presiding. We certainly accept that the Pope has full authority over the Latin Church and any other particular church which wishes to come under his omophorion. The list of Papal Authority we "accept" goes on. BTW, so far as I know, the Oriental Orthodox feel the same way.
"The balance of this discussion is academic or theological in my view and has no bearing on moderating the Religion Forum."
Do you think that neither ecclesiology nor theology impact on who is a Catholic? Do you not understand or are you simply by fiat, and imprecisely, attempting to insulate one or more Catholics here from the opinions of the very other Catholics the Pope himself wants them to hear from?
The members of a non-Catholic, non-Orthodox belief are certainly welcome to use that label to caucus.
However, you are welcome to declare an "Orthodox/Catholic Caucus" to discuss the same issues - a wider caucus still behind closed doors, i.e. apart from non-Orthodox, non-Catholic Freepers.
lol. This is brazenly false on so many levels.
“The Catholic Church has been the Catholic Church for centuries. Your attempt to expropriate the term will necessarily fail.”
Exactly. This handful of bigots and assorted “self-identified prophets” have no authority to do jack.
I Like it. But it's too long, darn it! (thread titles can only be 100 characters or less...)
You might prefer: MBTGTMOHAAOTE Caucus, though.
Have you actually read the rules to the Religion Forum?
What part of the bold in the last post confuses you?
The OMISSION of the word PROPER. Are you aware that not all nouns are proper nouns?
Methinks some brittleness is out for some exercise.
I'D THOUGHT you understood much better than that.
BECAUSE, DEAR BRO,
I'm NOT referring to
ALL Vatican affiliates/ Papal submissives/ Roman Catholics on this forum.
I'm only referring to those cliques within the larger group who so compulsively, reflexively, so rabidly dogmatically, so rigidly narrowly, so obsessively idolatrously react like a bile spewing volcano at every hint that their worshiped INSTITUTION is less than perfect . . . or
at every hint that the Trinitarian Protty Christians hereon will
NOT KOWTOW to every !!!!CONTROL!!!! FREAQUE !!!!DEMAND!!!! FOR 100% TOTAL COMPLIANCE AND OBEISENCE TO THE VATICAN EDIFICE.
My short-hand label for all such cliques etc. is "finger frothers" . . . which they so thoroughly and persistently demonstrate themselves to be.
Are you joining their cliques?
Yeah, but they have the Greys on their side...
Some like to use "creative" bombast and TECHNICOLOR Playskool gibberish to distract from the hate.
I was making a joke, Quix. (I never heard the term "finger frothers" before and thought it might be an occasion for a little fun). Are you turning humorless on me now?
Lighten up, dude.
METHINKS
Some seem to clearly consider themselves to have inherited their Inquisitor’s Mantles from their ancestors, theological or genetic.
I don’t know if there’s more blood dripping from their fingers or from their haughty eyes and clenched teeth.
Because of the imprecision of your definition and because you won't deal with the theological or ecclesiological considerations which define "Catholic", are you saying that FR forbids, unless expressly invited, Orthodox Christians from posting on any thread designated "Catholic Caucus"?
The above ping list is the "Orthodox list" and does include a number of Latins and always has, on purpose!
As for the other point- Thick skin is for Romanist or Papist and thin skin is for He who must be named.

PROVE the opposite.
Proper noun:
Catholic Church:
Those who belong to the universal Christian church.
“Yeah, but they have the Greys on their side... “
~Roll Eyes!~
In technocolor!
From whose fingers do spasms and froths of font sizes and colors flow?
NO definition you have linked says that. Are you simply trying to make words mean what you want them to mean?
