Arizona Nuns Blast Vatican, Catholic Teaching
Catholic World News ^ | 12/4/09

Women religious contacted by the Arizona Daily Star for an article on the current apostolic visitation used the opportunity to criticize the Vatican and express their dissent from Catholic teaching.

“We are closing schools and churches and they are asking the diocese to spend money on this type of thing?” said Sister Lil Mattingly, a Maryknoll Missioner. “We try very hard to review our own lives and how Jesus is calling us to live, but I'd like to call on Rome to work on that.”

Franciscan Sister Elizabeth Ohmann added, “Are we going contrary to Rome's teachings? I say, 'Yes, it is contrary to Rome's teachings.' But it is not contrary to my own conscience.”

Bishop Gerald Kicanas of Tucson, vice president of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, saidd that the apostolic visitation will give women’s religious communities the opportunity to “identify the significant contributions they have made to the mission of the Church.”

At the risk of stating the obvious, the Catholic Church no longer exists. There is an organization with a hierarchy, but it is built on rotten wood.

The Catholic Church was executed by Vatican II and the liberalization that brought all the liberals out of the woodwork. I was on the front lines for years, fighting to preserve Catholism. All the thanks I got was a bishop telling me that there was no room in the Church for me.

Politically, all of us are against the LIBs in government destroying this country. Why do we accept the people destroying the Catholic faith for forty years?

At the risk of stating the obvious, the Catholic Church no longer exists.

All you risk with that statement is absurdity, falsehood, and blasphemy.

I suggest re-thinking things.

The Catholic Church and what it once stood for is indeed gone, butchered by the LIBs. Does your church have female altar servers? How about lay readers? Communion in the hand? If so, then it is not a Catholic church, in the true sense of the word, for it is not universal.

Call me what you like, but convince me with facts.

I see ... lack of "female altar servers ... lay readers ... Communion in the hand" is the defining characteristic of Catholic.

Thank you for correcting me.

I'll be sure to tell Benny ... he needs to know these things.

Sarcasm ill befits a serious discussion; leave that to the LIBs. My point, simply put, is catholic means universal. If what is done in one parish and not another - as is the norm rather than the exception - then the universiality is negated.

BTW, refering to Pope Benedict as “Benny” is quite unbecoming a Catholic. Some might say blasphemous; but I won’t.

This is not a serious discussion. You're employing a ridiculous set of defining characteristics to the Catholic Church, for reasons I can't speculate on since this is the Religion Forum.

My point, simply put, is catholic means universal. If what is done in one parish and not another - as is the norm rather than the exception - then the universiality is negated.

I'll be sure to tell that to my friend the Melkite-Greek Catholic priest. I'm sure he'll find it interesting.

I don't like liturgical abuse any better than anyone ... but to say that the Catholic Church has ceased to exist because of it is ludicrous.

It’s been going on since 1968.

Does she realize how very ignorant she sounds?

How could she? She's too stupid to even know she is ignorant.

This would be bad enough if this bishop was old and ready to retire;however, this particular bishop is not that old and is scheduled to be the next chairman of the usccb.

He supported the ordination of a known homosexual and continued to back him after he was accused of molesting young males in his parish.

If any of you are interested in trying to get rid of these peremptory, queen bishops please write to your own b/Bishop and tell him that we Catholics don't need leadership like Kikanis to further taint the image of the Church and if they don't start cleaning up their act now we will hold them responsible for the fall of Christianity in the United States and Europe as well as Western Civilization!!(or something like that). And cc poor Cardinal George and Pope Benedict XVll as well as the secretaries of the Congregation of Bishops and the Congregation of Faith at the Vatican.

These nuns need to be disbanded or else reform their ways in line with the Vatican’s guidelines.
