well, in fairness to Henry 8, he liked to chop and change. And, in those days (like well until 1848), monarchs across Europe and the Turks were united against republican movements or any movement that was anti-establishment, because it was a danger to them all. Charles V would have supported killing a Henry 8 traitor because he'd not want traitors in his own lands.
