Bishop Murphy Issues Video Statement on Health Care Reform

Clearly outlining the ‘uniquely Catholic’ position on the national health care reform debate, Bishop Richard Murphy weighed in yet again on the continuing discourse that could have major implications for both major political parties next year.  Through the use of a web video available on both the main U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops website and youtube, the three-minute video showed Bishop Murphy explaining the Church’s position on health care reform as not only a competing voice, but one that operates over 600 of the nation’s hospitals at no expense to the taxpayer.  See the video below and let your elected officials know where you stand on national health care reform.

He came out against the election of Obama on grounds that Obama did not protect the unborn against abortion.

I’ve thought about what could happen if the bishops decide to close down the hospitals if this monstrosity passes and yes, abortion is very much in this bill.

The government could nationalize them as a shutdown could jeopardize civil order and welfare to keep them open.
