Mormons don't believe in Get out of Hell free cards.

Well, you had fun posting your "get out of hell free" monopoly cards on several posts.

What I'd like to know is if you send the same e-message to leaders in Salt Lake City of a certain religious denomination about beliefs that seem to fall under your "get out of hell free card" posts -- and disagree with your above statement:

"Hell, as thus defined, will have an end, when all the captive spirits have paid the price of their sins and enter into a degree of glory after the resurrection. Statements about an everlasting hell (Hel. 6:28; Moro 8:13) must be interpreted in their proper context in the light of D&C 19:4-12, which defines eternal & endless punishment." (Lds published KJV with Bible Dictionary p 700, 1979 version)

So does this mean that just because Mormon hell-bound spirit prison inmates can negate Jesus' atonement by working off their own sins & their own punishment according to Mormon doctrine that your "get out of hell card free" doesn't apply 'cause they don't get out free? (They have to work their way out?)

But doesn't just essentially doing away with hell ("Hell...will have an end...") wind up booting all the inmates out?

And, please tell us, how the following Mormon doctrine supposedly strikes the fear of hell into the heart of every earthly man:

"Through the Atonement of Jesus Christ, everyone will be redeemed from the effects of the Fall. We will be resurrected...Through the Savior's gift of mercy and redeeming grace, we will all receive the gift of immortality and live forever in glorified, resurrected bodies." (Official Lds church publication True to the Faith, pp. 58,18 2004)

[To explain this citation to the lurker and others, ya need to understand this is applicable to everybody -- non-Mormons, non-believers, everybody...the Lds church is giving a promise that you'll live forever in glorified, resurrected bodies -- totally carte blanche -- doesn't matter how you lived your life in faith or no faith].

Boy, DU, the above sure sounds like an upgrade from spirit prison, eh?

Or, DU, how about these "get-out-of-hell-free-sounding current teachings?

"...hell...is a temporary state in which spirits will be taught the gospel and have the opportunity to repent and accept ordinances for them that are performed." (True to the Faith, 2004, p. 81)

Boy is that getting out of hell free or what?

Or how about Doctrine & Covenants 19:16-18, which says that hell/outer darkness is for the few? Yet they are still "saved": "After suffering in full for their sins they will be allowed to inherit the lowest degree of glory which is the telestial kingdom. The hell in the spirit world will not continue forever." (Official Lds publication, Gospel Principles, p. 280)

Boy, DU, that word "inherit" sure resembles that "free" word & image you were loosely posting, eh?

And we're told hell's going to be cancelled like some bad Fall TV program? (Now, that would have been news to Helaman -- Book of Mormon, 6:28, and Moroni -- 8:13 eh, DU?)

In fact, if hell for mankind is cancelled, why does Mosiah 2:38-39 in the Book of Mormon say it's never-ending torment? An unquenchable fire?

You mean hell's unquenchable fire will be quenched? Its never-ending torment will go on permanent vacation? (Is Mosiah turning over in his grave? Or was he a phantasm and never existed to begin with?)

And what about Alma? 42:16 which says that eternal punishment is as eternal as the life of a soul. What? Are souls like plastic cups that you just toss out when hell becomes a worn-out concept? Really?

How consistent are you? Are you a Book of Mormon adherent or not? If your teachers are teaching you something that's not even taught from the "fulness of the everlasting gospel" Book of Mormon, what does that tell you about how they are NOT led of God?
