No it hasn’t. They are still Catholics. They may have been led astray for awhile, but they will be back.

Catholic membership seems to be a maleable concept. When self-identified Catholics act contrary to the the faith, "they aren't real Catholics". When they cross over to another faith, "they are still Catholics and will be back".
