Pray for the Republic and Obama Day 212

1In the LORD put I my trust: how say ye to my soul, Flee as a bird to your mountain?

2For, lo, the wicked bend their bow, they make ready their arrow upon the string, that they may privily shoot at the upright in heart.

4The LORD is in his holy temple, the LORD's throne is in heaven: his eyes behold, his eyelids try, the children of men.

5The LORD trieth the righteous: but the wicked and him that loveth violence his soul hateth.

6Upon the wicked he shall rain snares, fire and brimstone, and an horrible tempest: this shall be the portion of their cup.

7For the righteous LORD loveth righteousness; his countenance doth behold the upright.

Grace and glory are Yours O God and though the world be in chaos, we know it isn't really, for You shall make an end to all evil devices that men pursue and every wicked thought will one day cease. The wicked look at the world and try to figure out how to increase their own power. They are fools, for they have no power unless You grant it and You grant it only to their judgment and Your own glory. Not a hair of our heads can be touched unless You allow it, and we know if You allow it there is a purpose and a plan and it is to our good and Your glory. Though they take our freedom, though they take our lives, they can not take our salvation; and we have great hope of reward of we suffer for You in this life. So Lord, though we will fight for our freedom as a gift from You, we keep in mind there is a better land coming and it is towards that goal and towards glorifying You that we ultimately set our sights. We shall be with You forever, Lord, and that is enough. What is man? A mere mortal whose body will return to the dust and whose soul will stand before You in judgment. May those trust in You keep this in mind as the dark days surround them and as it seems that there is no justice to be found.

This week, Lord, they have been busy again. It appears they are going to vote on Cap and Trade bill that will economically cripple this nation. Well, the nation has made money and popularity their gods, so watching this is almost like watching the idols of Ba'al be destroyed. Oh, we will fight against this too and spread the word about how bad it is; but, ultimately, we bow to Your will and we understand that America must first experience judgment if she is to be healed. Of course, with our list of crimes against You, judgment may be our lot in its entirety. We do not blame You for this, but only ourselves. If such is the case, we pray for pockets of light in the darkness and for the soon return of Your Son - for it is painful to watch our nation disintegrate.

We pray for Barack Obama. This week we have been mindful of making sure that someone shares the gospel with him in a way that is clear and unmistakable. He has been fed a false gospel for 20 years at Wrights church, we pray that he hears the true Gospel and that he once and for all makes his decision. Is he going to go with Christ or Satan? For that is his choice. If he is to go with Christ, we rejoice. He could be very influential. He could point others to You though he be mocked by the world. If his choice is Satan, then let it be done. Quick judgment is better than the slow torture - unless of course, it brings repentance to the land. We bow to Your will.

I pray today for the South Carolina governor's family, particularly his wife and children, but for him also. Sin is ugly. We do not have room to judge self-righteously, though it does make us angry given the stakes in this country. We pray for healing for that family and for the family of the woman involved. May they all turn to You.

May this nation turn to You. And may our government itself be shaken to its foundation, turn to You, and turn away from the wicked way in which it is slanted.

Go with us. Protect Your children from evil. And it is in the blessed name of Jesus my Lord that I pray these things, Amen.
