The article is not a diatribe. It has the tone of a scholarly presentation. It is no different than any other critique I’ve seen of any other theologian..

I don’t hate you, and I’m not a bigot. I do think, however, that mormonism is not in the lineage of historic Christianity. It is not trinitarian, and that is the dividing line for historic Christianity.

Take any thoughtful, scholarly critique of Wesley, Armininius, Luther, Calvin, or etc....by someone who disagrees with that theologian...and see if it has any different tone than does this.

These people have very clear disagreements with Smith. Is it bigotry to disagree with someone?
