Years ago I was told they donate to Planned Parenthood or some other abortion mill...I have never shopped there for that and they don’t sell the stuff I want to buy, as well.

They are American owned, and that is what makes their position on Christmas even worse.

This year’s theme is “Christmas Wrapped” and is all about helping guests save money – and time.

You have a problem with that. They are using the word Christmas, however, there are other holidays at this time of year. There are many Americans celebrating Hannukah, and I don't see them complaining that Target doesn't use the word Hannukah, exclusively. (Hannukah, btw, is the 22nd through the 29th.) If you don't like how the store markets this time of year, just don't shop there...they'll get the idea, but to believe a major retailer will cater to one religion w/out recognizing there are shoppers of other religions buying gifts at this time of year, is a bit naive, IMHO.

Target Corporation (NYSE: TGT) is an American retailing company that was founded in Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1902 under the name of Dayton Dry Goods Company. In 1962, the first Target store opened in Roseville, Minnesota, and in 2000 the company changed its name from Dayton Hudson to Target. It is the fifth largest retailer by sales revenue in the United States, behind Wal-Mart, The Home Depot, Kroger, and Costco.[2] The company is ranked at number 31 on the Fortune 500 as of 2008[update]. Target operates its retailing business exclusively in the United States. It is a rival and competitor of Kmart and Wal-Mart. Target is a component of the Standard and Poor’s 500 index.

Target lost me a few years ago. I went in to buy some Christmas cards and found they were selling December 25th cards. They may have changed the policy by now but I have a memory like an elephant and they will not get one red cent from me. I try to shop in little specialty boutiques anyway. I really feel for the small shop owners this year.

When did that happen?

At least since the early 80's. I believe Target was actually founded by Dayton's to sell lower-scale merchandise. I used to work a block away from the Nicollet Mall (flagship) store and went there frequently - gorgeous store and very expensive.

The problem with the attack on Christmas is what we have allowed to permeate throughout our public schools for years. One word - MULTICULTURALISM, which goes with the term Politically Correct, (THE ENLIGHTENDMENT),etc. This has been promoted in our schools from the beginning. If people honestly believe the schools were not taken over by the Progressives in the 1800s, then some need to begin to research in order to find the facts on Public Schools. They have now labeled this young generation - Generation O... now ....

As for Target or any other company....when questioning a company find out who the CEO is and who he or she has running the ship and find their bibliography. Then check to see who they donated the most money to during each election cycle. :)

CEO Gregg Steinhafel (TARGET)

McCain’s corporate backers represent a who’s who of local business leaders.

Chief executives from 13 of the state’s 50 largest public companies contributed to the Arizona senator’s campaign, including Target Corp.’s Gregg Steinhafel, Best Buy Co. Inc.’s Bradbury Anderson, General Mills Inc.’s Kendall Powell and Xcel Energy Inc.’s Richard Kelly.

Target: bright lights, red shirts, wide aisles and....nothing that Wal-Mart doesn’t already offer for a much lower price.

can’t shop at Target,
Wal-Mart & Sams (too much China sourced stuff)
Costco (liberal)
Kroger (unionized)

yadda yadda

If I followed all the dictums on here, I could only go to Tractor Supply

I’m not crazy about Target because everything there is made in China, but sometimes I do find some small objects there that are useful (Christmas ornaments, supplies for the yard, clothes for my young son).

I have no problem with the statement Target sent. They are acknowledging Christmas, and “Christmas Wrapped,” with the idea of saving money, is a good concept for this year.

We are in an area which really is extraordinarily diverse. I see a few little Stars of David in the Target stores, but nothing about Islam, Buddhism, Jainism, Sikhism, Hindu, Bahai, or any of the other religions observed in our area. I’m a Christian but I don’t see what you’re upset about.

I like to shop at Target for lots of things. Never go to Walmart. Some of the reason is accessibility. The Walmart in our city is so crowded both with shoppers and with merchandise, that it is hard to get around inside. Also their parking lots is too small.

Target stores are usually neater looking and easier to navigate. My impression is that Target merchandise is a higher level than Walmart. I don’t buy many clothes at Target, however.

Target over Walmart any day.

Walmart attracts trailer parks. Target attracts hot moms. ;-)
