Urgent Prayer Request: Our oldest son is dead
I received this message from my dear friend Diamond today:
Our oldest son, Alexander, 29 was stabbed once in the heart yesterday afternoon at about 4:45pm, presumably by his younger brother, our son Peter, 18, presumably in self-defense. Peter is presently in custody.Alex had severe bipolar disorder. He had attempted suicide several times in his life. He would occasionally become agitated and violent, but I tell you the truth, he did not have a malicious bone in his body. Alex lived alone in his small house. We spent many hours with him and he often came to our house. He was very lonely and Peter went late Monday night to be with him.
... our heart has been ripped out. My wife and I and our other children need your prayers desperately. There is a God in Heaven and all I know is that this nightmare is in his permissive will.
Our dear Alexander is gone. He was often a tortured soul. I pray that the Angels bore him to Christ yesterday afternoon. He tried so hard to be good. I think his mental disorder killed him. He has now ceased from his struggles.

Oh, my heart goes out to you, dearest brother in Christ, in this time of devastating loss for your family! I’m lifting prayers that God will comfort you and all your loved ones, and especially prayers for Alex and Peter.

Gentle Jesus, with faith in Your healing powers and confidence in Your constant compassion, we ask you to heal the Diamond family’s suffering spirit. May their souls find rest in Your comforting love and relief from sorrow and anguish. Relying on Your love, we especially ask Your help for Diamond’s son, Peter. We place our trust in Your power to heal all their spirits from feelings of hopelessness, unrest, and despair.

One of my students . . . had his house burn down a few nights ago—total loss. Thankfully all family members are safe.

Sincere concern and prayers for your family.
It is a sin-cursed world in which we live, and of the many diseases that the Fall has wrought on us - amongst the cruelest has to be these mental illnesses. We don't understand them. We don't know how to treat them. And the poor person who suffers through them is living a nightmare.
I am sure that Peter and the rest of the family is traumatized and grieving, but it is wonderful to know that we have a loving LORD and Saviour. His mercies are bountiful, and He pitieth His people. We know that in this life we walk in a corruptible body -- but the promised hope is that in Christ Jesus we will put on incorruption. We rest on HIM whose Word is True and Faithful.
Rev 20:4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
5 And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.
May God grant you and your family peace and serenity in your deep loss. Please God, also grant the power of healing to the family of betty boop. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.

How horrible. Worst possible situation to deal with. Prayers for the parents, for the surviving son and the one who has passed.
Mental illness is a terrible thing to deal with.

Prayers for rest and an uncommon capacity to lay things to rest IN GOD’S HANDS. He alone can sort such troublesome junk out. He alone can heal. He alone can lastingly comfort.

Lord, please rest the soul of your servant Alexander and extend your love and mercy to his family. Please ease their suffering in this horrible hour. Please do not let the innocent be wrongly accused.
