Atheoligical Tendency ~Open~

Mormons focus on accessible, social aspects of their religion. Although the Mormon system of doctrine is genuinely attractive to many of its members, many have argued that the primary "glue" of Mormonism is the heritage, culture, and family ties, not the doctrine and theology.

In other words, the typical allegiance to the Mormon organization primarily stems from something other than doctrinal concerns. The average Mormon sitting in a pew does not care how or why their religion works, they only care that it works for them.

They are not concerned with the real character of Joseph Smith or how the LDS scriptures coincide with biblical teachings. A common element often overlooked when Christians share their faith with Latter-day Saints is that many Mormons are not Mormon merely for doctrinal reasons. This view of not being concerned with theology is considered to be atheological. If a person does not care about their theology, they miss the importance of rooting their entire life in the true knowledge of God and a coherent, rational, theological worldview.

A person's relationship with God is built on the foundation of what one believes about God and what it means to be right with God. This is the most important determining factor in shaping the way a person lives.

An atheological person does not seriously reflect on their own foundational worldview assumptions (e.g., what is truth, who is God, does this matter?), nor do they see how doing so would be relevant to everyday life.

South Park, a fictional, satirical cartoon, depicted a Mormon named "Gary" with the following words:

"Look, maybe us Mormons do believe in crazy stories that make absolutely no sense. And maybe Joseph Smith did make it all up. But I have a great life and a great family and I have the Book of Mormon to thank for that. The truth is, I don’t care if Joseph Smith made it all up. Because what the church teaches now is loving your family, being nice and helping people. And even though people in this town might think that’s stupid, I still choose to believe in it."

Grey Echols, a Mormon, writes the following in a review of By His Own Hand Upon Papyrus:

"This is a well written book which manages to not push an 'anti-Mormon' agenda. However as an LDS I do not think others should read it. Why? Because it could destroy your faith in the church. I am not trying to be clever. If you enjoy all of the good things the church has brought into your life, do you care where it came from?

No other church has so short a history that it can be examined so closely by science. Otherwise we would find that they are all created on the backs of con-artist. I am willing to bet every religion was founded by a fraud. So who cares. Does religion bring us together? Does it bond a nation, a town, a family? If so then let it be.

The truth is fleeting, and life is short. If believing in Santa makes children smile then believing in God makes adults smile. When children find out Santa isn't real, you kill a certain spark you can never get back. When you expose a church as a fraud, you kill a little spark in all of us."

Ha hahahaha ROTFL...

Here, you can buy the book here http://www.amazon.com/Joseph-Smiths-New-Translation-Bible/dp/1590383281 . Perhaps you will read it and educate yourself.

It’s sad that you, a Mormon don’t know this part of your “prophet.” I wonder what else you don’t know.

Well, these kids, who happened to come home from church crying over this, didn’t pick it out of thin air. They were pretty young, and someone had to have said it. Can you tell me where they might have received said information? My friend’s daughter was livid over this and rightly so, I would be also.

Again with insisting that Amos has already come to pass. Now you strecth it out...

Anyways, I guess it does not matter...

So, would say you're a good example of how "Christians" treat others?

Well according to your "prophet", I am not a fellow Christian, I am an apostate, a heretic, so again you contradict yourself asking if I am treating you as a fellow Christian, since by your own doctrine I can't.

I do feel good being an apostate according to your "prophet", and enjoy the good company of men such as Washington, Reagan, Sir Thomas Moore, St. Francis, Adams, John Paul II, John Wesley, I could go on...

A virtual smorgasbord of contradiction and assumption, I know not where to begin.

Since I am time limited I shall just snack.

Ok, you say that 1830 was the earliest the "true gospel" could be taught in this world, and America the only place. (wonderful arrogant presumption BTW) Then why did the Gospel occur in 33 AD or there about, and why in Israel. Does God do things just for the hell of it. You endlessly quote Amos and say the Gospel was here then lost. If we were not ready until 1830 here in the USA, why was it presented 2000 years earlier in Israel/Palestine to begin with? That makes no sense, unless of course you believe in an error prone God.

If the world was made up entirely of apostates from either 33 AD or 400 AD until 1830, then why would God raise anyone up at all, they all were denying his word, seems strange he would waste time trying to reach those not listening in the first place. How could they receive his spirit if they were not listening to the “truth” as only Joseph Smith knew it.

There is more, so much more, but like I said, I am time limited tonight.

Matthew 7:21 21 ¶ Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
_____________________________________________

Yeppers...

And since you posted that scripture, I will say that the false prophet Joseph Smith did not do the will of God the Father who is in Heaven...

1. Thou shalt have no other gods before me...Exodus 20:3 Joseph Smith was his own god and refused to worship The LORD God, He declared himself greater than God... ..

2. Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me: And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments. Exodus 20:4-6 The mormons build statues and edifices to Joseph Smith and worship him. Also on their buildings are images of unknown angelic beings and masonary emblems, and demon impressions....Joseph Smith encouraged his cult followers to bow down to him instead of Jesus the Lamb of God...Brigham Young said that Joseph Smith would judge everyone and that everybody had to get by Joseph Smith to get into HeaVEN...

3. Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain. Exodus 20:7 Anyone placing the Name of God on their buildings and blasphemeously using His Holy Name as a front for iniquity, is guilty of taking the Name of God in vain. Calling a unHoly, unBiblical cult by the Name of Jesus is a sin...

4. Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it. Exodus 20:8-11 Joseph Smith sinned against God every day of the week and built a religion of sin, and encouraged others to turn against God and commit unrighteousness in an unHoly alliance with Smith...

5. Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee. Exodus 20:12 Joseph Smith and his followers demanded that Christian parents be rejected and dishonored by those of the mormon religion... women were not be honored as mothers...

6. Thou shalt not kill. Exodus 20:13 Joseph Smith and his followers demanded that non-mormons be murdered. Joseph Smith threatened his own legal wife, Emma, with death if she would not agree to stay silent while Joseph Smith continue his orgy of debauchery with other mens wives and daughters. Joseph Smith started the Danites, a group of thugs who terrorized the people of Missouri and Illinois, and butchered 120 men women and children as young as infants, in he Faucher wagon train from Arkansas, at Mountain Meadows,in 1857. The Danites also led a militia to a peaceful tribe of Indians, in 1863, and slaughtered 500 of them, breaking the arms and legs of the women, and raping them, and ripping unborn babies from the bellies of the pregnant women. Infants were bashed against rocks and trees. Few escaped and the mormons would not help the survivors. Joseoh Smith had a friend called Dr. Bennett who did abortions on young girls to hide the carnal sins of Joseph Smith and the other adulterous mormon men.

7. Thou shalt not commit adultery. Exodus 20:14 joseph Smith started his religion as a sex club for debaucherers like himself who wantyed to chest on their wives whole sale. Joseph Smith and Brigham Young used the name of God as a front for their carnality and spat in the face of God and mocked the righteousness of a Holy God as they did it.

8. Thou shalt not steal. Exodus 20:15 Joseph Smith was a lazy bum and never held a real job. He was a thief and a con-man, a common money digger. He ran occult and peep stone schemes with his father and brothers. His so called “visions” in 1830, were just another of his get rich quick schemes to cheat the local farmers out of their hard earned cash.He stole from his own followers and printed useless $3 bills and ran a very profitable bank scam. Brigham young stole from the followers and cheated them repeatedly, living in mansions while the rest lived in hovels and wore rags. Women in Young’s harem died of disease and starvation.

9. Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour. Exodus 20:16 The false prophet Joseph Smith created a religion based on elaborate, fabricated lies, from the falsehood he designed about the Presbyterian Church, to the lies he told innocent girls in order to seduce them..

10. Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour’s. Exodus 20:17 Joseph Smith told his followers that anything belonging to the people of Missouri belonged to them because God didnt intend for the Cjhristians to have own anything. he said it was not stealin g to just take what belonged to the Missourians, and he sent the Daniotes to kill the victims if they objected to the theft. Brigham Young wanted the large number of cattle, horses and money that the Faucher wagon train from Arkansashad so he sent the Danites to Mountain Meadows to massacre every man, woman, and child, and infant, in order to steal their property.

Brigham Young said that Joseph Smith would judge everyone and that everybody had to get by Joseph Smith to get into HeaVEN...

When I first heard that, here on FR in fact, I thought it was a bit over the top from my fellows here. Then I sourced it directly. Brigham Young is no Mormon Hater, no "anti", they named their university after the man.

So with that verified, I finally had the most direct proof in my mind the whole LDS was false. Never in the fullness of time had God included a mortal in the path of salvation. Indeed, why would God go through sending his son as an expression of his grace and a sacrifice for our salvation in order to simplify things for his people, then come back 1800 years later and add some guy to the whole process. That makes no sense.

Then why did the Gospel occur in 33 AD or there about, and why in Israel.

Why did Jesus only appear to Jews in America? Why didn't he visit the Jewish Lemba, a black southern African tribe. Why not the Chinese Jews of Kaifeng? Or other Jews scattered around the world? Oh, but wait, the native americans were not Jews but descendants from Asia/Mongolia. So it would appear that Jesus never came here either.

Take it a step further, these people lost the so called “priesthood” as well. Now if they were over here and away from the decadence of the lands of Eurasia, how did they lose it. And why, like all of us apostates from Europe, were the Indians not practicing a heretical version of the Gospel. Where are their errant bibles, for they did receive the gospel if we are to believe the BOM.

If Spalding had known of these people I’m sure he would have included them in his novel ... and then the current mormon religion would have them included in the smithian fantasy.

Oh my, you really aren't very informed about Mormonism are you?

Joseph Smith Translation of the Bible via google.

Why would I know or care what the RLDS have? The RLDS aren't "Mormons". So what ever historical writings they have, have nothing to do with "Mormonism" as you put it.

From Wiki "but the majority of it is not a canonical text in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church)."

Please provide proof of the existence of a "JS version of the bible."

If LDS headquarters in SLC don't have it; it ain't true??

The Community of Christ - ex-Reformed LDS - back in missouri has it. Ever hear of them?

Ahhh ok, gotcha.
I know a little about them. I have no reason to go looking into them. In the original message that this was mentioned the poster associated it with the Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter-day Saints. Which it doesn't belong to us. /shrug
