There’s a book about the Pearson Program (Integrated Humanities Program) at the University of Kansas called Truth on Trial: Liberal Education Be Hanged
by Robert K. Carlson. Carlson was a student in the program, but did not become Catholic if I remember correctly. He was outraged at what was done to destroy the program, however. The book is now rare and pricey, but you might find a copy somewhere. It’s worth the read.
I remember getting mugged by some oh so au courant person because we didn't read any Asian books. She didn't get that "not perfect" does not equal "really bad" or that you can't do everything in 4 years.
