Part of my e-mail from my sister:
"Debbie went to the Mayo clinic today and found out she is in Stage 4 (worst stage) Hodgekins, not Stage 2 as she thought."
A horrible disease made even worse because it mostly attacks the young. Our prayers go out for this young lady. Stay strong Debbie!

Stage IV has an 80% survival rate.”
That is so encouraging!
Prayers going up.
The odds are on her side, as well as many prayers. I think she’s about to find out she’s stronger than she knows. And when this is all over, the world will look even prettier than it ever did before.
Prayers for healing, comfort, and strength for Debbie and her loved ones.
God bless!

Prayers for her complete recovery!
It is so hopeful seeing all of the people who are praying, and the hopeful news, in such a short period of time.

Praying for Debbie now.
Prayers on the way!
Prayers for Debbie. If she has many friends and family to update during her upcoming battle, I would encourage you to get a web site at www.caringbridge.org
They are free, easy-to-maintain sites which both my son and I use to update our family on our medical situations.
Certainly.
I lift her up to God, who hears all of His childrens’ prayers...
May she be healed and comforted, and may she know that all over the world, people are praying for her!
Prayers.
Please don’t give up on her!
Hodgkin’s lymphoma was one of the first cancers to be cured by radiation. Later it was one of the first to be cured by combination chemotherapy. The cure rate is about 93%, making it one of the most curable forms of cancerif it is detected in the early stages.
Stage IV is disseminated involvement of one or more extralymphatic organs.
In 1998, an international effort[11] identified seven prognostic factors that accurately predict the success rate of conventional treatment in patients with locally extensive or advanced stage Hodgkin’s lymphoma. Freedom from progression (FFP) at 5 years was directly related to the number of factors present in a patient. The 5-year FFP for patients with zero factors is 84%. Each additional factor lowers the 5-year FFP rate by 7%, such that the 5-year FFP for a patient with 5 or more factors is 42%.
Patients with early stage disease (IA or IIA) are effectively treated with radiation therapy or chemotherapy. The choice of treatment depends on the age, sex, bulk and the histological subtype of the disease. Patients with later disease (III, IVA, or IVB) are treated with combination chemotherapy alone. Patients of any stage with a large mass in the chest are usually treated with combined chemotherapy and radiation therapy.
