All;
Here’s a FREEPMAIL
from the beloved hubby.
Please Praise God with me for his faithfulness in caring for his wife in such a challenging situation.
And, MB, et al,
please note how much he appreciates the prayers of all and the caring shown on this thread:
His Freepmail, to me:

Thank you so much for attending to that most comforting thread. If you have a moment later (as if I have not asked for enough already), would you please thank everyone for me? Ive read the thread twice now and as of this moment simply weep with relief that she is back in rehab and that there are so many that care and I can turn to with questions and seeking input. FR is an amazing place and I cannot tell you how much I am glad our paths crossed.
Thanks Quix. And I am very sorry to hear about your father. He is in MY prayers and I pray for his full recovery.
Here’s another urgent prayer request anonymously FREEPMAILED to me:
My father-in-law learned today that he has cancer of the prostate. He is eighty-one-years old. Because of his age, his treatment options are minimal. He will soon have a CATscan and a bone scan.
Hes a retired Southern Baptist Director of Missions, having started over twenty churches during his career. He is a man of God, who has given his all to Jesus.
He is a husband, a father of four children and a grandfather of thirteen. He is loved by his family and friends, and by his Father in heaven.
We, his family are not yet ready to let him go. We love him so. If you could pass this onto anyone who would remember him in prayer, it would be greatly appreciated. We pray that the cancer will be slow-growing, that he will have many more years with his family, that he will be kept in comfort, and that God will remain with him.
Lastly, if his time has come, we pray that he will be welcomed into the loving arms of God.

INDEED.
My dad now 84 almost died of prostate cancer some years ago.
believe that A MORE EXCELLENT WAY
by Henry Right has a LOT to offer cancer patients.
Prayers and hugs all around, in any case.
There’s some simple thing that’s been shown to be devastating to all kinds of cancer—Oh, I think it’s baking soda . . . directly applied . . . now getting it to a prostate would be some trick . . . .
One might research the net on it.
Prayers in any case.
Prayers offered for the wife, but also for the husband who loves her so much.
Much appreciated.
My husband has been recovering for 24 years now and we have a life that we never dreamed possible. In August we will be celebrating our fiftieth and we are thrilled.
Heavenly Father, look with compassion on these dear people and lead them to the tools that will make their lives a true reflection of your love, we ask in Jesus name. Amen
It's hard not hopeless
Prayers sent.
Quix is unable to respond any further to this thread. He has been called a troll and banned by the mods, even though he posted well within the rules. Very sad indeed.

I doubt it is permanent.
I pray not.
You may have a point as to AA as a condition of parole, but there are jail/prison inmates compelled to go to AA meetings while in the lockup. There is no choice, you go and get your ticket punched. That's wrong no matter how you slice it!
Which causes me to remember another quibble I have w/ AA:
Their assumption is that 100%, across the board, you will never get better, and you are doomed to relapse if you stop attending meetings. While that may apply to some individuals is is most certainly in error about the majority who can learn from past mistakes. As was pointed out in this thread, there are cases where people have gone from an over the top, binge drinking life style to totally tea totalers and then back to "social" drinking without back sliding into there old habits. I would consider that to be playing with fire, however, some people can muster the self control and more power to them. Mandating meeting attendance without an exit strategy amounts to preventive detention in that you are being punished for crimes you have yet to commit!
The word "punished" may seem a bit strong but I submit that an open ended compulsion to attend meetings ad nauseam is hardly on anyone's social calendar.
Regards,
GtG
I agree with you.
Quix asked me to pass along the message that he can no longer manage/monitor this thread since he has been banned from FR...
Quix is a good Christian man with a good Christian heart...I request that anyone interested pray for Quix and pray that his membership at FR be reinstated...
Thanks...

May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you a spirit of unity among yourselves as you follow Christ Jesus, so that with one heart and mouth you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.- Romans 15:5-6

What’s up with all this? I’ve been praying.
Thanks very much for praying for the family.
Quix appreciates that.

He doesn’t really understand your question, but he’d be very happy to answer it if you could explain it a little more.
Thank you,
Joya
