I am not a member of the FLDS, I am a member of the mainstream, President Monson's Mormon Church. I am a polygamist.
I am married to two women at the same time. I married them both in the temple. Although I had an earthly divorce from my number 1 wife, my temple marriage is still intact. My number two wife didn't want me to be married to another woman when we too were married in the temple, but the church leaders say there is no reason to disolve the number one wife. The chruch leaders say that my number one wife needs the eternal blessings since she hasn't married another man in the temple. My second wife hates me being married to another women along with her. She has pleaded and written letters to church leaders. They say to leave it alone, there is no reason to disolve the first marriage.
so are we to understand mormons dont condone polygamy in the mortal life, but ok for the spiritual afterlife ?
Men must have a cancellation of their sealings before they can be married in the temple to a woman again. I’m not sure when the policy changed, but it has been within the last 25 years or so. And no, I don’t know the reason for the change. I always assumed that if couples were divorced on earth, how could they stay married in heaven? It didn’t make any sense to me. And again, I leave it up to a loving Heavenly Father.
