LDS vs FLDS. Just for the record...

Some Mormon women sing...

Some Mormon women dance...

Some Mormon women write scary stories...

Some Mormon women have a lot of money and really great hair...

I know hundreds of Mormon women. They do all kinds of different things and live all different kinds of lives.

This woman served as a leader in the Mormon church. She recently spoke to teenage girls worldwide. She encouraged them to stand up to peer pressure, strengthen their families and serve others. (Click here for more.)

None of the Mormon women I know look like this...

None of them are marrying off their teenage daughters and-- although some may joke about wanting a sister-wife (preferably one who is really fat & ugly, does bathrooms and changes diapers)--none of them really want to share their husband with anyone.

Furthermore...

Some Mormon guys can throw a ball...

Some Mormon guys yell at the ball...

Some Mormon guys make scary movies...

Some Mormon guys have a lot of money and really great hair...

I know hundreds of Mormon guys. They do all kinds of different things and live all kinds of different lives.

This is one of the leaders of the Mormon church. Last Sunday he spoke about honoring women, especially mothers, and gave advice to husbands and children about how to treat the women in their lives. (For the whole story, click here.)

None of the Mormon men I know look like this...

The Mormon men I know are honest and hard-working. They don't cheat, smoke, drink or gamble. And TRUST ME....the last thing any of them want is another wife.

Please no offense intended...and I hope this is not taken as a 'stupid' question...but I am trying to understand all this...

Is 'sealing' the same as the celestial marriage? Married in the 'afterlife' (life here on earth)? No disrespect meant just trying to follow the thread.

At #6, Saundra Duffy supplied a video link.

When Romney is first speaking, the camera view pans over the audience, for the first time. Seated directly in front of the camera is a man who laughs and then he says something to his wife.

Is that man Elizabeth Smart’s father? He looks a good deal like him.

Just curious, because you may have watched more coverage of the Smart case than I did and are better at face recognition.

Sealing is the term used for Celestial Marriage, or a marriage that lasts into eternity.

Men can be sealed (married) to many women. A woman will be sealed (married) to only one man in eternity.

Using your simplistic comparison, “orthodox” catholics tortured people during the inquisitions, and “orthodox” protestants burned witches at the stake. Biblical ancestors of Jews and Christians practiced polygamy, as well.

Therefore by your logic, Christians and Jews of today are still to be tied to those events of the past.

Unleash all your mental capacity.

#1) Neither act was performed in accordance with othodox practices. The FLDS are practicing exactly what Smith stood for.

#2) "unleash all your mental capacity" is a personal attack, and as such I am alerting the mod.

Do you mean the link at #8?

The man resembles Ed Smart, but I don’t think it’s him.

As a generally non-religious person; I thank you for this post.

Not only "condone" it for spiritual afterlife, but the ultimate goal being sought through mormon temple ordinances is to be "allowed" through good works (following "worthiness requirements"), into the presence of God and Christ.

The eventual gain of a mormon man's very own planet to reign over with his multiple wives would be the second ultimate goal.

Yes.

Did you notice the deafening silence from the Mormons pertaining to this topic. They won't address it, for to do so would require them to either admit it or openly lie about it.

Logically, polygamy would have to be allowed in the afterlife because the founders are there

Yep. It would be hard for me to be with my eternal family if polygamy wasn’t allowed. Eleven of my LDS progenitor granddads had plural wives.

The mental gymnastics you people go through in defence of Joe smith and Brigham Young is almost unbelieveable.

I say almost because I was in the MORG for 36 years, even 3 in the bishopric.

Joseph Smith and Brigham Young ruined thier own reputations with their acts and words.

...AND I STAND BY MY ASSERTION THAT THE FLDS ARE LESS ASHAMED OF JOSEPH SMITH THAN THE LDS.

And your piece as well.

Nice try, though it smacks kind of trying to convince the priest you read Playboy for the articles. Of course we all know nobody would EVER have sex unless the Prophet forced them to do it at gunpoint. Yep, that’s what I heard all the way through high school, university, and my years of hanging out with hockey players: all them boys were telling me that YouHaveToHaveSexEveryDayOrYouDie just because God wanted to save my life as well as my soul...

Twaddle. The men wanted lots of wimmin for the same reason the Tom Cat or the Bull want lots of wimmin: because it is their nature to impregnate as many wimmin as possible to ensure the triumph of their genetic line. Its straightforward biology.

Or perhaps there is no marriage in heaven so it doesn’t matter
