LDS vs FLDS. Just for the record...

Some Mormon women sing...

Some Mormon women dance...

Some Mormon women write scary stories...

Some Mormon women have a lot of money and really great hair...

I know hundreds of Mormon women. They do all kinds of different things and live all different kinds of lives.

This woman served as a leader in the Mormon church. She recently spoke to teenage girls worldwide. She encouraged them to stand up to peer pressure, strengthen their families and serve others. (Click here for more.)

None of the Mormon women I know look like this...

None of them are marrying off their teenage daughters and-- although some may joke about wanting a sister-wife (preferably one who is really fat & ugly, does bathrooms and changes diapers)--none of them really want to share their husband with anyone.

Furthermore...

Some Mormon guys can throw a ball...

Some Mormon guys yell at the ball...

Some Mormon guys make scary movies...

Some Mormon guys have a lot of money and really great hair...

I know hundreds of Mormon guys. They do all kinds of different things and live all kinds of different lives.

This is one of the leaders of the Mormon church. Last Sunday he spoke about honoring women, especially mothers, and gave advice to husbands and children about how to treat the women in their lives. (For the whole story, click here.)

None of the Mormon men I know look like this...

The Mormon men I know are honest and hard-working. They don't cheat, smoke, drink or gamble. And TRUST ME....the last thing any of them want is another wife.

Not a good analogy. The FLDS claims the LDS is apostate for ditching polygamy and that they are the true Mormon church. Since the FLDS members are allowed to drink coffee, I think there is even more disconnect

Not really. The FLDS observe the tenets of Mormonism exactly as taught by the founders and leaders of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

It is the LDS branch that quit the observance of polygamy.

The FLDS are practicing and believing the fundamentals of Mormonism.

[The differences are huge, worlds and centuries apart. The comparisons are silly.]

But you all believe in Joseph Smith AND Brigham Young who started the whole polygamy thing AND the basis of your religion is singular Gods with multiple Celestial wives populating the planets. And you both brainwash and shun and are xenophobic.

And you all believe in the BOM, the Pearl of Great Price, the Doctrine and Covenants, Moroni, golden tablets, peepstones, magic garments . . .

Not to beat a dead horse, but LDS are 99% of FLDS except you decided you wanted statehood so you swept terrestrial (not Celestial) polygamy under the rug, sorta.

How pathetic, you can’t even admit Joseph Smith is the direct spirtual mentor of the child rape in the FLDS.

[Joseph Smith was a great Prophet. He was murdered by a mob of blood thirsty hateful bigots ]

before Lt. General Smith could start a Civil War and kill a bunch of Gentiles like he did in Missouri. And by the way, Smith was already a fugitive who had escaped from the Liberty jail.

Saundra, you always leave out these parts of the story. You should know better by now, or are you just trying to hide the truth.

And if you believe what you say, do you equate myself and others here with a “ murderous mob of blood thirsty hateful bigots? ? ?

Wrong. What you and the other anti types that continually try to tie early LDS practices to the FLDS fail to grasp is the stark differences between the two.

With the enormous influence the Salt Lake LDS church has on the state government officials of Utah and Arizona, many of whom are mormon, the LDS church COULD have nipped this problem in the bud decades ago. This cult flourished because those states turned a blind eye to their practices because of the schizophrenic attitude of the church leaders.

Those leaders KNEW what mormons are discovering now, that it is impossible to disown the polygamy practices of the cult when the early leaders, primarily Joseph Smith, SANCITIFIED the practice, and furthermore, the present-day church preaches eternal polygamy.

The LDS church is reaping the harvest now of the crop sown in the 1800s. FLDS is just the "holy revelation from God" in D&C 132 carried to the extreme.

Seven, are you personally lobbying the LDS church to step up help the victims of the FLDS cult? Are the church leaders going to set up programs and call the members to take these women and children into their homes and help them assimilate into the outside world, the way missionaries are being housed in members homes? IMO, that act would be more effective in the missionary effort than 10,000 knocks on doors.

When that happens, please ping me to the official announcement by the LDS PR department, OK?

And now good old Moron Harry Reid is talking tough in his sweet little mormon voice about how these Utah and Arizona mormons haven't done a good enough job. What a joke.

And the quacks of Westboro believe they are practicing and believing the fundamentals of their religion as well. Ask them and they will say that the other Baptist churches quit practicing their fundamental beliefs.

Thankfully I’m not ignorant enough to think that all Baptists believe what Westboro believes, nor that all Mormons believe what this cult believes.

Westboro thinks they are the true church. In both cases, Baptists are generally ashamed that Westboro affiliates themselves with the Baptist faith and Mormons are generally ashamed that this bozo associates themselves with LDS.

And just a little BTW to all since this is a pandering thread. What about the thousands of really bright BIC ex-mormons in business, in medicine, in government and all walks of life that have had the strength to admit their doubts and walk away from the sect? How about a list of them? Fully at least 2/3’s of claimed membership by the sect are made up of these folks.

“Mormons are generally ashamed that this bozo associates themselves with LDS.”

I think they are embarassed they have to deal with it. If these kooks were Methodists or Presbyterians, the churches would just wave them off as non-entities. As a matter of fact, I bet those churches would LOVE to get the media exposure as they condemn the cult.

Mormons just seem uncomfortable with the whole thing. You don’t hear a lot of “Here’s why they are wrong” explanations. I don’t watch TV so I may be missing some of this.

You'll notice, not one Mormon answered your question. Perhaps because it is uncomfortable.

NO A mormon LDS woman can only be sealed to ONE man, but a man may be sealed to countless women.

Sealing it the method that mormons use to extend marriage into the after-life. It is also used by some to drag a red herring into the discussion and deny the historical facts.

I am a Mormon Polygamist
Date: Apr 30 09:31
------------------------------------------------------------

I am not a member of the FLDS, I am a member of the mainstream, President Monson's Mormon Church. I am a polygamist.

I am married to two women at the same time. I married them both in the temple. Although I had an earthly divorce from my number 1 wife, my temple marriage is still intact. My number two wife didn't want me to be married to another woman when we too were married in the temple, but the church leaders say there is no reason to disolve the number one wife. The chruch leaders say that my number one wife needs the eternal blessings since she hasn't married another man in the temple. My second wife hates me being married to another women along with her. She has pleaded and written letters to church leaders. They say to leave it alone, there is no reason to disolve the first marriage.

Wouldn’t think all that by listening to the folks running from thread to thread thrashing and bashing Mormons. It is only a few though.
