Giuliani waits to receive communion at the Lady Chapel in St. Patrick's Cathedral during the Pope's mass.

Did Egan give instructions not to distribute Communion to Giuliani?

Giuliani's spokeswoman, Sunny Mindel, said Monday that he is willing to meet with the cardinal but added that his faith "is a deeply personal matter." You can have your own opinions, but you can't have your own facts.
You can have a personal faith, but you can't have your own sacraments.

Well - pehaps this pope has “inspired” cardinals to find their backbones.
We need the “Crozier of St. Lumbar” graphic.

How about the fact that he shouldn’t be taking Holy Communion because he is remarried. (and outside the Church) This is for his own protection. He is harming himself greatly by taking Communion unworthily.

but added that his faith "is a deeply personal matter."In other words, Giuliani's Catholic faith is none of the Catholic Church's business.

why is Egan picking on Rudy only? What about Kerry, Kennedy and pelosi???????????????????????? What’s the deal with just Rudy.

‘Giuliani’s spokeswoman, Sunny Mindel, said Monday that he is willing to meet with the cardinal but added that his faith “is a deeply personal matter.” ‘
Giuliani’s faith is so personal, he won’t even enforce it on himself.

What I really don't understand here is WHY Giuliani puts himself through all this.
He cannot possibly believe that he can support abortion and be on his third marriage and still go up to receive the Body and Blood of our Lord in such a state of public and unrepentant mortal sin and scandal.
So, if he doesn't believe, why does he bother to go to church in the first place?
If he does it for political advantage, he's heaping sin on sin, not as a Catholic but as a Christian or even as a believer in God at all. "God is not mocked."
I guess this is what they mean in the old criminal indictments by saying, "Having not the fear of God before his eyes, but being moved and seduced by the instigations of the devil . . . . "

Thank You Sacred Heart of Jesus for touching the heart of Cardinal Egan. Thank you, Immaculate Heart of Mary, for praying for Cardinal Egan. All of those Masses where I told the Lord I was praying for my Archbishop only in obedience to Him paid off. Thank You, Lord! Please continue to move in his heart, make him the priest, bishop and cardinal You wish him to be.

Well if the RC Church doesn’t have the back bone to excommunicate him/them then they might as well receive communion

Sounds like Egan has grounds to commence a ferendae sententiae excommunication of Giuliani.

I mentioned on the thread about the Mass at Yankee Stadium, that if John Cardinal O'Connor was still alive he would be having a chat with Rudy before the end of the day.
This really is interesting.
It has been over a week since that Mass, what prompted Cardinal Egan to speak now??
Perhaps B16 had a chat with the Cardinal.

So is communion denied to each of this Carninal's flock who supports abortion?
How would the Cardinal know who is pro-life vs who is pro-choice?
And does he call them out by name in the church bulletin?
Do Democrat voters who are Catholics get communion?
Are they kicked out of church?
Do Democrat voters or pols who are gay get communion? Is this Cardinal a Democrat?
