Right, but it is seldom used. Come to any Gospel Doctrine class on a Sunday and prove me wrong.

The JST is owned and copyrighted by the Community of Christ (formerly RLDS)

We have the KJV of the bible, and we also have the BOM, which contains other prophecies concerning Christ and the tribes of Israel that you are referring to.

Nephi secured the “Plates of Brass” by way of commandment while he was in Jerusalem, in order that his people would have the scriptures (up to and including the reign of Zedekiah and the Prophet Jeremiah) The parts you are referring too are also included in the BOM, as well as other prophets not mentioned in the Old Testament. (Zenos, Zenock, Neum, etc.) I believe one day these records will come to light. God loves all his children in all periods of time. He has spoken with man before, and will speak to man again.

Cheers.

~”Right, but it is seldom used.”~

Anecdotally, I was in a meeting with the leaders of my ward (PEC, for sevenbak’s sake), and we were doing some scripture study. We turned to John 1. We read through the first few verses, then I reminded them that the Joseph Smith Translation clarifies it a great deal.

Point being, yes, we have access to JST, but in practice we don’t use it much. In my opinion, the primary reason that Smith was commanded to retranslate the Bible was to give us many of the great sections of the Doctrine & Covenants. Some of the greatest doctrine in there was given to Joseph as he was pondering the Bible during the retranslation process.

One would think that there would be other records, on brass, found in the Holy Land.
