Brigham Young was excommunicated by a high council of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints led by Strang on April 6, 1846.

Yea and where are they today don't seem like the Lord supported their verdict!:)

Have you ever heard of BYU?

~”I am not trying to bash you who do believe, it is fine with me if you do. What does upset me over and over is the denial of things you do believe. If you believe it, defend it, but don’t deny it.”~

Ladyinred, there is much misinformation about what we Mormons actually believe.

If we believe it, we say so, and boldly. I have no problem with being beaten over the head with thing I actually believe.

If we don’t believe it, we likewise say so.

To paraphrase, the problem with our anti-Mormon friends is that they know so many things about us that just aren’t so.

There has been a valiant attempt to shut down by various methods of censorship, any questioning of the validity of the mormon religion.

I've noticed that. I find it odd. As a Christian, I am open to discussing what various passages of Scripture means, and have done so in numerous home and church bible studies (at many denominational and non-denominational Christian churches, for instance: Four Square, Baptist, Congregational, Evangelical Free, and Calvary Chapel of Costa Mesa, among others). Almost always when there is confusion, it is because of our own limited understanding and/or our own perceptions on things. Having said that, these discussions have concerned better understanding the minutia within a text of Scripture, not engaging in discussions of the validity of the Scripture or the authors therein.

It was not directed to a particular Freeper, personally. Therefore it is not “making it personal.”

I see you woke up with mocking spirit:)

Is THIS one??

You are free to start you own thread topic!

It's MUCH more fun to shine TRUTH on the statements produced by the various ex-leaders of the LDS Organization!

This is so funny when the shoe is on the other foot many of you fail to see it that way! What I find interesting is that apparently the only people whose credibility can be questioned are those who are: not Mormon mainstream

Resty: who is posting using your name?

Yes, that one is making it personal.

restornu and all: discuss the issues all you want, but do NOT make it personal.

To paraphrase, the problem with our anti-Mormon friends is that they know so many things about us that just aren’t so.

Like THIS???

They succeeded in killing Joseph, but he had finished his work.
He was a servant of God, and gave us the Book of Mormon.
He said the Bible was right in the main, but, through the translators and others, many precious portions were suppressed, and several other portions were wrongly translated; and now his testimony is in force, for he has sealed it with his blood.
As I have frequently told them, no man in this dispensation will enter the courts of heaven, without the approbation of the Prophet Joseph Smith, Jun.
Who has made this so?
Have I?
Have this people?
Have the world?
No; but the Lord Jehovah has decreed it.
If I ever pass into the heavenly courts, it will be by the consent of the Prophet Joseph.
If you ever pass through the gates into the Holy City, you will do so upon his certificate that you are worthy to pass.
Can you pass without his inspection?
No; neither can any person in this dispensation, which is the dispensation of the fulness of times.
In this generation, and in all the generations that are to come, everyone will have to undergo the scrutiny of this Prophet.
They say that they killed Joseph, and they will yet come with their hats under their arms and bend to him; but what good will it do them, unless they repent?
They can come in a certain way and find favor, but will they?

"If I ever pass into heavenly courts, it will be by the consent of Prophet Joseph"

The portrayal of Mormons as idiots without any intellectual foundation in our religion is a common caricature based on deceptive marketing.

It works both ways:

The portrayal of ANTI-Mormons as idiots without any intellectual foundation in our religion is a common caricature based on what is taught in the Temple Rites®.
