Mormon ousted as an apostate
East Valley Tribune—Phoenix, AZ, MSNBC ^ | Sept 23, 2007 | Lawn Griffiths

Posted on 09/24/2007 8:16:13 AM PDT by colorcountry

Being excommunicated for apostasy by the Mormon church is one thing, but Lyndon Lamborn is livid that his stake president has ordered bishops in eight Mesa wards to take the rare step of announcing disciplinary action against him to church members today. "I thought if he could go public, so can I," said Lamborn, a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, who said his research into church history gave him "thousands of reasons the church can't be what it claims to be."

Stake President R. James Molina acknowledged Friday he intends to have Lamborn's excommunication announced to the wards at men's priesthood meetings and womens Relief Society gatherings, even with Lamborn now taking his case public. Molina, as well as officials at church headquarters in Salt Lake City, call such a public warning about an ousted member extremely rare. They say, however, church members must be protected from what discordant ex-followers may say to damage the church...................

You have not done so, so far in this thread, so you must believe something else...

Hello!!!

You are mindreading again!

Just in case the lurkers missed it, MHGinTN did not just "Reply" to my post, for he does not think it is necessary to follow the rules of this forum when talking about people by pinging them, so he removed me from the "To" list.

And again...

You did not, however, point out exactly how the verses were taken out of context.

Kinda like when MY verses were claimed to be 'out of context' but then ignored.

It appears to be standard practice.

I keep asking people to pray, here is a good one, how many of the orthodox Christians out there have actually prayed about the Nicene Creed?

GBood Question!!

Discuss the issues all you want but do NOT make it personal.

I do not think that pointing out rule breaking and stating that those who engage in such behavior are petty and disrespectful is getting personal. I have reviewed your rules, and find nothing about it, if you wish for that to be added, I will of course comply.

I also respectfully request that you instruct MHGinTN that posting about someone and using euphemisms for them is unacceptable behavior here, and I would no longer be tempted to point out his behavior to those who may be wondering why I sometimes do not reply to his attacks, so they will know I was not pinged to them.

Thank you for your service on this forum.

You Edited: You have not done so, so far in this thread, so you must believe something else...

I Said: If you truly believe the Book of Mormon to be false, you should be echoing, or even leading the call I am making here. You have not done so, so far in this thread, so you must believe something else...

You Said: You are mindreading again!

This is merely logic if you do not believe X (which can be determined by actions) then you believe Not X. Please note that i did not try to state what anyone did believ for that would indeed take mindreading.

I Said: Just in case the lurkers missed it, MHGinTN did not just "Reply" to my post, for he does not think it is necessary to follow the rules of this forum when talking about people by pinging them, so he removed me from the "To" list.

MHG has stated int eh past, and on this very thread that he does not include me in posts about me (a relu bending to say the least). He has also by his actions in hittgin the reply to my posts and then removing me from the to line and putting in someone else, htis is not mindreading, the evidence is plain for all to see.

Are you a mind reader to know I was mind reading? (Really it was logic and deduction)

I apologize for dragging you into this thread (at #720) when I posted your syllogism regarding ‘Who Raised Jesus From The Dead’, your earlier posted verses showing God The Father Almighty, Jesus, and The Holy Spirit IS the answer showing the concept of trinity is ingrained in the New Testament. With your permission I shall continue to post that clear series of verses (I may even post the Elohim & Jehovah verses too!) without pinging you since the disgust/LDS harangue factor isn’t something you ought have to deal with since some other of us have accepted the task.

I cannot speak for others, but I have prayed about this one.

I will admit that I pray less about something when I have already received a testimony of some thing that conflicts with it, but I will still, especially if asked pray about it. I figure, hey, God's logic is superior to mine in every way, I could be wrong with just logic, I'm better off if I just ask, besides, it usually doesn't take very long.

What about you, are you willing to pray about things if asked to?

It's the words...

Depends on what they are.

I have no need to 'pray' to see if it's ok for me to hump my nei ghbor: it's already been settled long ago.

Actually, I have. That is one of the reasons I am still happily in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

MHG, Please lay the "Jehovah & Elohim Verses" on me because the "Sylogisem one was not hard at all, and I could use something besides the usual stuff you post.

Diamond, I am sorry if you feel disgusted by those who are honest in their beliefs such as I. I have never attempted to Harangue anyone, although, I may have succeeded without trying LOL!

I will not follow you to threads about your religion, I will not try to prove your religion to be heretical, and I will not even post to you after this unless you post to me or about my religion.

MHG seems to think that he should be able to say whatever he likes about me and mine without objection, and when we object, we are called all manner of vile names and the rhetoric's can get heated on both sides.

I wish we could all just agree to focus on the race in 2008, but some here can't resist slinging mud at the first opportunity, and it just snowballs from there.

Thank you for your reasoned discussions to date, and if you choose not to post further, have a nice day, and If we meet again on a thread that is actually working toward a political purpose, I hope we are on the same side.

Just for reference, am I allowed to ignore the poster but address the contents of a poster’s assertions?

Yes, on open threads - any issue raised is “fair game.” But handle the subject so as not to be seen as picking a fight.
