Mormon ousted as an apostate
East Valley Tribune—Phoenix, AZ, MSNBC ^ | Sept 23, 2007 | Lawn Griffiths

Posted on 09/24/2007 8:16:13 AM PDT by colorcountry

Being excommunicated for apostasy by the Mormon church is one thing, but Lyndon Lamborn is livid that his stake president has ordered bishops in eight Mesa wards to take the rare step of announcing disciplinary action against him to church members today. "I thought if he could go public, so can I," said Lamborn, a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, who said his research into church history gave him "thousands of reasons the church can't be what it claims to be."

Stake President R. James Molina acknowledged Friday he intends to have Lamborn's excommunication announced to the wards at men's priesthood meetings and womens Relief Society gatherings, even with Lamborn now taking his case public. Molina, as well as officials at church headquarters in Salt Lake City, call such a public warning about an ousted member extremely rare. They say, however, church members must be protected from what discordant ex-followers may say to damage the church...................

BTW, I am glad to see you are starting to read the Book of Mormon, when will you start praying in faith and with earnestness of heart to know if it is true?

BTW...I've read the BOM...and have known it to, from fasting, and praying in faith and with earnestness of heart to be a fraud from the beginning.

And with all my heart and soul, I find it absolutely preposterous for any thinking, intellectually honest, investigative, and inquisitive faith filled, Christian person to come to any other conclusion.

I would challenge you DU to fast and pray...and ignore your historical / familiar / family bias ...and really research mormon history....

Once done, with an open and truth seeking mind..you will no doubt see the errors of your ( Joseph Smith ) ways...

LDS excommunications seldom are made public unless the "honored" individual went quite public with apostate statements or acted in a manner which was clearly predatory in nature (e.g., bunko artist, child abuser, seducer of women, etc.

I have served in various capacities on at least 16 "disciplinary councils" in my 36+ years as a member of the Church and found them to be quite sad occasions in which the excommunicated person was treated fairly and with love and given assistance in the process of repentance and perhaps the restoration of his priesthood blesssings....

"We’ve seen here at FR how the dissembling and deceit runs deep within Mormonism."

You have seen no such thing and have shown yourself to be one who thinks nothing of bearing false witness...

Whoever writes your material is a biased ignoramus who has an ax to grind. When were you excommunicated and why?

So prove that they are true. Put your money where your mouth is, or, better yet, obtain at least a rudimentary and unbiased knowledge before blathering about things you know nothing about....

"Yet the church continues to grow — built on a foundation of fear and lies and deceit."

The first part of your blather is true, and the latter is your usual blatant lies based on your sour-grapes.

Eat your heart out and get over it. There isn't a bloody thing you can do about it other than to sputter, blather, lie, complain, and eat sour grapes.

Does your family know that you excrete such vile offal on this site? Misfit is as misfit does - your outnumbered in your own neighborhood and around the world, and nothing you can say or do can change that. Sleep well...

BTW...I've read the BOM...and have known it to, from fasting, and praying in faith and with earnestness of heart to be a fraud from the beginning.

This statement is self contradictory, for if you are going to ask about something, you cannot already have made up your mind.

You might want to read the section of my page "Do people actually try to teach bad things about Mormons?"

And with all my heart and soul, I find it absolutely preposterous for any thinking, intellectually honest, investigative, and inquisitive faith filled, Christian person to come to any other conclusion

So if I come to a conclusion that differs from you, I Can't: Interesting, and your criteria for this Thoughtful, Logical, Honest, Investigated, Faithful, and Christian position is that... Oh, you did it once and it didn't work, you know, I once did a quadratic equation that did not work out... that's IT! I didn't do the problem wrong, even though others got the right answer, it was Math, now I know that no thinking, inquisitive, honest person does math! That's for the non christians! For good measure, I will try to discourage everyone from doing math because I tried it once, and that should be good enough for them!

I would challenge you DU to fast and pray...and ignore your historical / familiar / family bias ...and really research mormon history....

  1. My parents were converts, from Methodism
  2. I grew up in the Midwest, also known as the Buckle of the bible belt.
  3. I have attended more churches than just about anyone I know (Christian, and non, I even Graduated from a Buddhist seminary in Taiwan) I've never been kept behind a wall or in an ivory tower about religion.
  4. I have an (in all probability, my mom forbids us to connect to him until after she has passed) ancestor, who was deeply involved in Mormon history, Governor Boggs.
  5. I have indeed done a lot of research, prayed and fasted, and have plenty of family that are non Mormons, thanks.
I have received a revelation from God. You would have me deny that. But I will not, for if I deny this, the same spirit that testified to me that Jesus died for my sins, I fear I will seal doom upon my soul that is eternal in nature for by so doing, I will offend God in a way that my sins to date have not, but thank you for your advice.

Once done, with an open and truth seeking mind..you will no doubt see the errors of your ( Joseph Smith ) ways...

I have, and will continue to seek the direction of Jesus Christ my Lord and Master and while I am a poor servant, I will earnestly strive to heed his voice as I have done in the past.

Tell me, if you received a witness from god that something improbable was true, what would you do?

Just for reference, Joseph smith also had these kinds of questions put to him, he wrote:
24 However, it was nevertheless a fact that I had beheld a vision. I have thought since, that I felt much like Paul, when he made his defense before King Agrippa, and related the account of the vision he had when he saw a light, and heard a voice; but still there were but few who believed him; some said he was dishonest, others said he was mad; and he was ridiculed and reviled. But all this did not destroy the reality of his vision. He had seen a vision, he knew he had, and all the persecution under heaven could not make it otherwise; and though they should persecute him unto death, yet he knew, and would know to his latest breath, that he had both seen a light and heard a voice speaking unto him, and all the world could not make him think or believe otherwise.
25 So it was with me. I had actually seen a light, and in the midst of that light I saw two Personages, and they did in reality speak to me; and though I was hated and persecuted for saying that I had seen a vision, yet it was true; and while they were persecuting me, reviling me, and speaking all manner of evil against me falsely for so saying, I was led to say in my heart: Why persecute me for telling the truth? I have actually seen a vision; and who am I that I can withstand God, or why does the world think to make me deny what I have actually seen? For I had seen a vision; I knew it, and I knew that God knew it, and I could not deny it, neither dared I do it; at least I knew that by so doing I would offend God, and come under condemnation.
I will not deny my testimony of Christ either, I have published it on my page and I stand by what I say for it is what I know to be true.

Go with God, learn of him, for what he has to say is infinitely more important than what I have to say.

There seems to be quite a lot of selectivity with respect to labeling or not labeling the multitude of personal attacks hurled at me and others and at the things we hold sacred.

It's one thing for an individual to make what is arguably and purportedly a "personal attack," but quite another when a forum continues to serve as an institutional, overflowing well of religious hate, intolerance, and bigotry against "Mormons.".

This is the second time I have had to make that point.

It would appear that a cost-benefit analysis would be worthy of your consideration relative to the numbers of individuals who take quite personally the continuous flow of venom and vitriol that erupts at the mere mention of anything "Mormon."

By FR's own policy this sort of garbage should be removed from the main forum and onto the Religion forum where said invariably dies a well-deserved death. Violating one's own policy has a way of attracting unwanted attention from many and diverse interests...

By personal you mean????

Review your posts to CC, I think they are over the Top.

Please apologize for talking about her in such negative terms, if you don't mind, I will point out some of the entries I think were too much.
There isn't a bloody thing you can do about it other than to sputter, blather, lie, complain, and eat sour grapes.

Worse yet, you continue:

Does your family know that you excrete such vile offal on this site? Misfit is as misfit does - your outnumbered in your own neighborhood and around the world, and nothing you can say or do can change that. Sleep well...
This last is intentionally hurtful and I would publicly encourage you to take a more Christlike tone.

I have promised on other threads to always upbraid those of my faith that I see as going over the line, IMHO you have crossed it in your last two posts to CC.

Just a hint, If you click on the Religion Moderator's name His / Her page here has excellent definitions of what is and is not acceptable.

Thank you for your support here, but please do so in a fashion that keeps to the rules and tone that is appropriate to the forum, again, thank you.

This statement is unattainable; for there is NO ONE that has such a blank slate for a mind.

This is the second time I have had to make that point.

Try it even a third time, and see if you get any different response from the RM.

It's one thing for an individual to make what is arguably and purportedly a "personal attack," but quite another when a forum continues to serve as an institutional, overflowing well of religious hate, intolerance, and bigotry against "Mormons.".

Is the following 'personal' or 'institutional'?

http://scriptures.lds.org/en/js_h/1/19#19
17 It no sooner appeared than I found myself adelivered from the enemy which held me bound. When the light rested upon me I bsaw two cPersonages, whose brightness and dglory defy all description, estanding above me in the air. One of them spake unto me, calling me by name and said, pointing to the other—This is My fBeloved gSon. Hear Him!
18 My object in going to ainquire of the Lord was to know which of all the sects was right, that I might know which to join. No sooner, therefore, did I get possession of myself, so as to be able to speak, than I asked the Personages who stood above me in the light, which of all the sects was right (for at this time it had never entered into my heart that all were wrong)—and which I should join.
19 I was answered that I must join none of them, for they were all awrong; and the Personage who addressed me said that all their creeds were an abomination in his sight; that those bprofessors were all ccorrupt; that: “they ddraw near to me with their lips, but their ehearts are far from me, they teach for doctrines the fcommandments of men, having a form of godliness, but they deny the gpower thereof.”
20 He again forbade me to join with any of them; and many other things did he say unto me, which I cannot write at this time. When I came to myself again, I found myself alying on my back, looking up into heaven. When the light had departed, I had no strength; but soon recovering in some degree, I went home. And as I leaned up to the fireplace, bmother inquired what the matter was. I replied, “Never mind, all is well—I am well enough off.” I then said to my mother, “I have learned for myself that Presbyterianism is not true.”

The ETERNAL Doctrine of polygamy has gone by the wayside,
the bias against Blacks has gone by the wayside,
the place that women used to take in the LDS organization has gone by the wayside,
but nothing has lifted this ATTACK against ALL the other 'churches'.

I wonder why?
