The MSM hate Mormons because of our traditional family values and patriotism. The MSM is trying to discredit Mitt Romney because he represents everything they hate. I think it’s sad that some members of the “Christian right” have jumped on the anti-Mormon bandwagon. Strange bedfellows. And believe me, the MSM will capitalize on this fact every chance they get - killing two birds with one stone. The MSM can make the evangelicals look like a bunch of hate-filled jealous hypocrites at the same time they spew the lies, deceit and misunderstandings about Mormons.
don’t bother debating members of the LDS...it isn’t worth the time or effort.
With the notable exception of Harry Reid.
I just watched the preview of the PBS special and tears came to my eyes. I am thinking . . . I am hoping . . . that it will be a fair depiction of my faith and the history of unfair persecution . . . persecution that continues to this very day.
wasn’t planing on it, been there, done that and have the T-shirts to prove it. It always boils down to Mormons screaming about “anti-Mormon” this, “anti-Mormon” that, with hyper-emotionalism smears and false accusations of “hate” and other such PC nonsense.
The purpose of the documentary, I think, is to educate ignorant people about who Mormons are, not who other people say they are or to repeat nonsense they have heard from other sources.
I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Or Christians in Sudan who have their villages raided, parents killed, and children taken as slaves or worse.
Or, Christians in China who are jailed, beaten and tortured, and property confiscated, and children taken from them.
Public criticism in an open society that values free speech, which includes critical analysis of a religion such as Mormonism is not persecution. It is the challenge of concepts in the free market of ideas. Sadly, there are some who wish "freedom pf speech" only apply when it does not include critical analysis of their own religion.
You are in good company (if you call it good) because the main stream media hates Mormons, too, but for different reasons - Jesus Christ is in the name. The “religious right” is in bed with the MSM when it comes to Mormon bashing. Oh, how the MSM is loving this!! Mormons are opposed to homosexuality; Mormons are patriotic; Mormons believe in strong families - everything the MSM loathes. And if the MSM can film anti-Mormon rhetoric coming from leaders on the religious right, they (the MSM) will be having a field day and laughing their heads off.
However, many Catholics are still hurting from what happened to John F. Kennedy and perhaps the Catholics will be thoughtful, considerate and OPEN MINDED enough to give Mitt Romney a chance.
Can you inform the readers of the Bringem Young Utah Mormons practice of blood atonement and the Danites?
Oh please stop with the anti-Mormon, Mormon hating rhetoric. It makes you sound like the whiney leftists.
Critical analysis is not hate. Hyper-emotionalism which mischaracterizes critical analysis which is applied to any purported assertion to test for validity as “bashing” and “hate” is exactly the kind of tactic the leftists use. It’s whiney, and rational people see right through it.
I have said it once and I’ll say it again: Harry Reid is a MINO (Mormon in Name Only) and I could never understand how it is that some Mormons are democrats, considering the dems’ platform and all.
I’m a semi-recent convert and still learning. I know I have a long way to go - a very long way but I keep trying. All I know is that Jesus Christ died for my sins and I love Him for that and I know I don’t deserve it. Hallelujah for God’s grace!
By the way, HOW DARE ANYONE ASK MITT ROMNEY ABOUT HIS UNDERWEAR!!!!!!!!!! Good for him - he refuses to answer such a private question - unlike Clinton who thought it was funny and cute to be asked if he wore briefs or boxers.
God bless America!
By the way - what’s not to love about the Mormon Tabernacle Choir often called “America’s Choir”.
Bumping this thread and hoping the documentary will be fair.
You can also see a video discussing Romney and Mormonism -- again from a Christian perspective -- here.
I haven't seen the PBS documentary, but I am willing to bet that either of these sources provide far more information on the Mormon faith than government sponsored media.
A critical analysis of the LDS Church should not include untruths or gossip. There’s a lot of anti-Mormon literature out there but you need to consider the source. A lot of it is financially beneficial to someone. Some folks have an axe to grind. Some folks are on a power-trip. Some folks can’t tolerate other views different from their own. Some people are just plain ignorant.
Mormons are used to persecution.
George Washington was a Mason and so was Andrew Jackson. According to many Baptists of today, they both went straight to hell.
I heard something about the Danites. Actually, I knew a guy who claimed to be a Danite and he was unstable and killed himself. So what’s your point?
I agree. But then I suppose the same people are pushing “The Da Vinci Code” as an informative treatise on the Catholic Church, and “The Last Temptation of Christ” as a documentary on the life of Christ.
At least Clinton’s choice of underwear was not religiously based, and I will say no more.
