.... so you see I don't have very good examples around here.
There are many absoloutely deplorable examples. Absoloutely deplorable!
Frankly I don't believe UU's qualify as a bonafide religion. They are a collection of individuals with endependent ideas. My local group happens to be somewhat Christian and is Bible based. It suites me fine because many traditional Christian Churches wouldn't accept me.

Well, since the official UU website says you don't have to believe in God, I guess you might say there's a pretty wide scope for anything and everything under the UU imprimatur (if imprimatur there be . . . )
Like Independent Baptist congregations, I guess it depends entirely on what your local unit is up to.

First, I'd like to say that I'm doing MY part to get this thread to 2k.

When you get right down to it, the concept "religion" is tough to grasp. I remember asking a Japanese girl what religion her parents were (It's fun to meet somebody who, as an act of youthful rebellion, becomes a Baptist!) She said, "Tea," meaning of course Chado, the tea ceremony.
This briefly inspired me to see if I could start a religion based on beer ....
