First, I'd like to say that I'm doing MY part to get this thread to 2k.

Frankly I don't believe UU's qualify as a bonafide religion.

When you get right down to it, the concept "religion" is tough to grasp. I remember asking a Japanese girl what religion her parents were (It's fun to meet somebody who, as an act of youthful rebellion, becomes a Baptist!) She said, "Tea," meaning of course Chado, the tea ceremony.

This briefly inspired me to see if I could start a religion based on beer ....

I need to go look for the case that Judge Edenfield of the Northern District heard back in the 70s, involving a prisoner who started a religion called "The Church of the New Song" . . . the Sacrament being T-bone steaks and rye whisky, which of course he expected the warden to provide . . .
