Unfortunately, our local UUs are mostly an arm of the Democratic Party - mostly politics and very little even attempt to consider religion or even philosophy.
Last funeral service I went to that was taken by a UU minister, she talked the whole time about saving the whales and very little about the Dear Departed. It was odd. The Dear Departed's daughter said, "I'd like to KILL that woman . . . "
. . . so you see I don't have very good examples around here.

There are many absoloutely deplorable examples. Absoloutely deplorable!
Frankly I don't believe UU's qualify as a bonafide religion. They are a collection of individuals with endependent ideas. My local group happens to be somewhat Christian and is Bible based. It suites me fine because many traditional Christian Churches wouldn't accept me.
