Your works won't save you. If you commit one sin, you are unable to enter the presence of God. The blood that Jesus shed is all that is necessary. If you are keeping the law, you have to keep it all. If you break one, you break them all. No one in the bible was saved by keeping the law.
Colossians 2:14
Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross
Repentance means a change of mind. You realize that you can't please a Holy God with your good works.
Faith is the only thing that saves you.
Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth.
Not baptism, joining a church, confession or walking an aisle. Believe what Jesus did for you and rest in his righteousness, not yours.
It seems to me that failure to perform will lead to a failure to "overcome" and does not auger well for the churches who don't get back on track. Good "work" is acknowledged and pleasing to God it would seem. I have asked non-Catholic Christians on these threads several times but never have received an answer.
Did I say that works would save me?
What I am saying is that works are part of the Catholic belief. My belief doesn't stop with words..............it needs to go on to actions. It is a manifestation of my belief.
