, it was actually some days later. Christ founded His Church on Peter's confession and then clarified things on the shore of Galilee. And, as I recall, this was when Peter had been fishing (As if he needed any other qualification to be Pontifex Maximus. The man could fish!) I mention it because it probably explains the "fish hat" referred to earlier.

Apparently the instigator of this madness has left.

Let's abandon posting then and leave room at the top for other subjects. I'm hungry right now -- west coast time and I haven't eaten. Maybe that's why I'm getting goofy.

Oh, that's right, this post says I'm goofy to be a Catholic!

....can I buy in bulk?

LOL!

Okay, MB, You got me. I'm still laughing.

At our big old parish we have these great huge penance services sometimes: priests in every nook and cranny hearing confessions and people from a bunch of parishes coming to confess. (The guy that wrote this article would pop an aneurysm, bless his heart.)

So I suggested that with all the lines they put up a sign: Express Lane -- 10 Sins or Fewer.

But do they listen to me? No, they do not. I just don't understand it!

But I can go in and talk about that one big sin -- pride -- and all the ways it gets me into trouble for over 10-12 minutes.

Your sign wouldn't work for me.

Well, you can buy GetOutofHell Credits from people in areas where they sin less. I think it works like the carbon credit plan Gore is on.

When my husband was in RCIA class I told his fellow classmates that when they went to their first confession to be sure and get their cards punched. I explained that each time you went to confession the priest would puch a hole in the confession card. When they had 10 holes punched they were allowed to take one prayer off their penance.

Can I ask you for a footnote on your posting.

Apparently the instigator of this madness has left.

Not that Iscool is a bad guy at all, but I am put in mind of

"the devil ...., being a spirit of so high a pride, that he cannot endure to be mocked; ..."

... from the Life of Sir Thomas More by Cresacre More

I think our fellow poster NYer can give you information about the Byzantine Catholic Church. If you can go to the Divine Liturgy it is awe inspiring.

You and Dr. E and the "late" drstevej are our (Catholic Caucus) favorite Reformed Protestants, no insult to other reformed Protestants

None taken - but now I know I have to work harder!
