Deliver Us From Evil Movie Synopsis: AND Movie Trailor: http://mcwindows.arcostream.com/media/arco/lionsgate/streams/windowsmedia/deliver_us_from_evil/dufe_Absolute_V18_Trlr_1B_300.wmv
"Deliver Us From Evil" is the story of Father Oliver O'Grady, the most notorious pedophile in the history of the modern Catholic Church. Completely lacking in moral fiber and devoid of any sense of shame or guilt, O'Grady used his charm and authority to violate dozens of faithful Catholic families across Northern California for more than two decades. His victims ranged from a nine month-old infant to the middle-aged mother of another adolescent victim.
Despite early warning signs and complaints from several parishes, the Church, in an elaborate shell game designed to avoid liability and deflect criticism, lied to parishioners and local law enforcement, while continuing to move O'Grady from parish to parish.
Over the years, O'Grady successfully exploited mothers and fathers in order to get to their children. His penchant for sexual mayhem was as essential to him as breathing, and internal Church documents prove that since 1973, he raped and sodomized with the full knowledge of his Catholic superiors.
Remarkably, "Deliver Us From Evil" filmmaker Amy Berg tracked down Father O'Grady and persuaded him to participate in the making of her film. O'Grady's account of his years in various Northern California parishes is chilling and he tells his story without remorse or self-reflection. Also included in the film is never-before-seen footage of the deposition of Los Angeles Cardinal Roger Mahony and his former second-in-command, Monsignor Cain. She also interviews canon lawyer and medieval historian Fr. Thomas Doyle, former priests, lawyers and the abuse survivors themselves.

Amazing that you would use me to take the spotlight off of your pro-abortion views. After all, why would you not take a stand righ here and now against the American bishops and attack me instead?
I meant to address your comment here. The RCC believes sanctification and justification to be the same thing -- as we become better people we are earning our salvation.
So to someone who is unversed in Scripture, a laundry list of things To Do to earn our salvation may sound appealing, easy to understand and accomplish if all the rules are followed.
However it is as part of the recovered early Christian theology of the Reformation that asserts sanctification follows after our one-time, accomplished justification by Christ's atonement on the cross. And this sanctification is accomplished by the work of the Holy Spirit. It becomes obvious to us as we see our lives changing, growing, and bearing fruit.
This, as much as anything else, is the error of Rome, despite the clarity of Scripture.
And...
If it's a litany of steps you need as part of the process of sanctificaiton, just return to Scripture and read. It's all there.
Because it is written, be ye holy; for I am holy." -- 1 Peter 1:15-16"But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation;
And because we all fall short, Jesus reassures us...
"Be not afraid, only believe" -- Mark 5:36
And by that belief and through that belief life is transformed.
Granted, this is short and to-the-point. If it's verbage a person requires, the RCC canon laws are ripe with words and instructions all pointing away from the singular truth of Christ's accomplished justification.
I doubt I could disagree more with you than these two sentences.
I thank God for my "anti-Catholic doctrines." And as part of my sanctification, it becomes more reflexive every day, by the grace of God.
You say you believe this is "anti-intellectual." I say it is Scriptural. You say it is "false." I say it is true.
But we don't have to merely agree to disagree. We both should search the Scriptures and find the answer because it is not a small thing.
Rome, however, would not give us this advice. More's the pity.
Well, when sites like this put forth statement like this, it's hard to think otherwise!
It has been shown that He conferred on him a primacy over the Church, which is universal in its scope, extending to all the Church's members, and which needs the support of no other power. A primacy such as this manifestly gives to him and to his successors a direct authority over all the faithful. This is also implied in the words of the pastoral commission, "Feed my sheep". The shepherd exercises immediate authority over all the sheep of his flock. Every member of the Church has been thus committed to Peter and those who follow him.

A big AMEN to that!

There is no Christian communion that believes we earn the initial Grace that make us lovers and followers of God. The departure comes at the juncture of the understanding of sanctification. Evangelicalism is sorely lacking in this regard because once saved, always saved is a recipe that is ultimately lacking and unfulfilling, if a concentration on sanctification does not place, actually displace, justification in the place in our hearts and minds where it belongs. A concentration on sanctification must increase, and a concentration on justification must decrease, if we are to be conformed to Christ. Let the best Evangelical minds get on with it theologically and practically.
I read a quote not so long ago that said we had the right to anthropomorphize God because He theopormorphized us. I really liked it, and soon after realized that it is a modern version of God became man, so we could become like him. Though I know I've departed from the original construction of that, as it seems to overstate things, I believe the essence is the same.
I see exactly how you leaped from your amusement to me being pro-abortion. Very good. Is everything else the Reformed believe based on such sound logic?
"I place trust in the promises of Christ to his church, and then I place trust in the Scriptures, and then I read Hebrews 13:17, which commands obedience to Church authority (when it's being exercised lawfully)."
Go to the men of the church first and then go to Scripture.
The RCC is all about "obedience" to other men and rules and accessories, when the truth of Scripture tells us we are saved by the obedience of Christ on the cross and not our own obedience.
"For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous." -- Romans 5:19

"Ooohh! Mrs N****baiter's exploded!"
"Oh mother, don't be so sentimental. Things explode every day."
No, it is not a small thing.
The Scriptures will solve nothing in this disparate understanding of things because they are replete with verses that point to each of our views. This 'no small thing' hasn't been solved for centuries and I don't believe really can be solved for 'we have not been His Counsellor.'
I call any Christian my brother or sister if he or she believes and recites the Apostle's and Nicene creed.
The proper understanding of predestination and justification, if these in fact are proper doctrines, is not truly possible without consulting St. Paul, St. Peter, St. Luke, St. Matthew, St. Mark and St. John and getting their blessed Consensus Patrum. In the meantime, we proceed with faith, hope and love, the greatest of which is Love.
I can't imagine that either one of us is going to alter our views. The one thing I can say for myself though, is that this last year has proven to me that I can think clearly and fairly, and I don't believe you can have one without the other.
Insofar as Mary is concerned. I was named after her. When I was 13 or 14 years old my mother walked into my bedroom when I was getting dressed and looked at my naked form and said to me, 'sei come la madonna.' How I could I not love myself after that? And I did, and I do.
Maria is the blessed virgin and she is the blessed of all mothers, she gave birth to our Lord. I believe only Jesus was without sin, but she is the blessed mother who suckled our Lord. One doesn't have to bow before a statue made of her or pray to her to feel affection for her. We feel affection for St. Paul and for theolgians we like, how unimaginable to withhold that same affection from the Blessed Maria.
The point that started this is the RC Church serving communion to the rich and powerful who are proabortion.
You are dodging that point by attacking Calvinists.
Did you vote for Kennedy? Are you a card carrying member of Planned Parenthood?
I am not familiar with that term and unfortunately I am out of town and using my daughter’s computer which is difficult for me to maneuver on. If I take a few days to answer, it is because I have had to wait unti I return home.
How wonderful to see you back. I hope you are feeling well......Ping
Oh goodness yes. While heretics like Jerry Falwell, Pat Robertson, John Hagee, D. James Kennedy, etc., compromise with pro-abort Democrat politicians those Catholic bishops are out there hollering "Thus saith the L-rd" and letting the chips fall where they may. [/sarcasm]
I find it very hard to believe you could make such a ridiculous claim with a straight face.
As is often said, the Catholic Church is more than the bishops. :-Þ
We are to "become like" Him, we are not to become Him.
Men are always men from their first breath till their last. Anything good within them is Christ. You seem to cling still to the RC error of "infused righteousness," as opposed to the correct understanding of "imputed righteousness." We're saved by His righteousness, and not our own.
I really think that when trying to make sure the type of mechanical Christianity that RC can produce becomes one's first concern...
I regret that you think that is my "first concern." It is not.
Maybe you're looking for a Protestant church that, when hearing of your upbringing as a Roman Catholic, will say that the theological teaching of your past is just as valid and Scriptural as what you would have gotten if you had been raised in some Reformed church.
And you'll have a long search for that one because it is not true.
You trust the magisterium.
The fruits of each are our proof.
