"...i love how many times peer review is touted as the end-all, be-all of science, and yet, more and more, peer review is being shown as wrong, and badly wrong....yet, it is still used and preached as if it were 'gospel'...and it is funny because if someone who believes in the authenticity of the shroud (as i am), when we brought that up, the science egg heads can point to so-called peer review to call us mistaken, yet, this article points out the peer review was mistaken...not much would be made of that, the egg heads and intellectual elites will IGNORE THE FINDINGS THAT POINT TOWARD THE AUTHENTICITY, and simply trumpet HOW MARVELOUS THAT SCIENCE WAS ABLE TO CATCH THEIR OWN ERROR....when those of us who beleived from the beginning, apparently were not wrong, from the beginning....."

Uh, it "was" the process of science itself that found and noted the error---not any "belief system". The scientific process WILL always eventually get to the truth, if it is provable by science at all (many things are not).

And in this case, the original error was caused by the insistance of church authorities on not taking samples from multiple sites (CORRECT scientific method).

So, eventually, good science overcame bad science--JUST LIKE ALWAYS.

Science cannot and does not operate apart from a belief system. Not even good science was able to convince the teacher her conclusions were wrong.
